This is a Songskirmish by Amanda @ajna1960 and the theme was: a silly love song. I'm just happy to have gathered some thoughts in this short time! Ha. Thanks Amanda!
A SILLY FOOL
I had to smile
When you breezed by
Never did I imagine that
You’d catch my eye
My heart then yelled
To do something
I nodded like a bobblehead
But felt like a king
[ch]
Oh, you’ve got me silly
A silly fool
My heart is tilting
Won’t follow rules
Where did you come from
Where could this go
I want to be cool
But I’m a silly fool
I opened my mouth
To show my smarts
Never thinking ahead
Not a master of hearts
Do you believe in
Love at first sight
They say it exists
And I’d say they’re right
[ch]
Oh, you’ve got me silly
A silly fool
My heart is tilting
Won’t follow rules
Where did you come from
Where could this go
I want to be cool
But I’m a silly fool
[br]
Friends tell me
I make my own trouble
But I have so much fun
Stepping in a few puddles
Repeat ch

Oh, that bobbleheaded king. I like your descriptions of the goofy giddy fallen-in-love feeling.

Nice write, relatable, and flows well. Not sure which genre you had in mind, but it makes for a great country song.

I like the humility of this character in your lyric. Feels relatable!

Very relatable! These lyrics capture the feelings of a new relationship so well. What is this? what could it be? All that uncertainty and the effect it can have on us. Great write!

You had me at "nodded like a bobblehead, but I felt like a king"! Great skirmish!

I really like that bit that I think is a bridge! "Friends tell me/I make my own trouble/But I have so much fun/Stepping in a few puddles" A really fun turn of phrase.

A sweet lyric, and I also love "you've got me silly" - it's a phrase that sticks. I really like your last verse a lot too, with the rhyme of "trouble" and "puddle."

“You’ve got me silly” is the perfect phrase to lead off this chorus. It leaves me wondering where this is leading to, but of course, that’s the exact situation, with all the tension precisely because the future is unknown.

How cute and so relatable! It will be a wonderful song!
