This song just wouldn't flow but a chorus finally showed up as I folded laundry today. Didn't want to let @wylddandelyon down after she did this for me:
"For you I drew the Eight of Cups. The image shows a spiderweb overhead, with a spider hanging on one of its threads down to what must, I suppose, be called a tuffet. There is a girl running away and a bowl of white stuff dropped on the ground. The tuffet seems to be an old oak stump, since it has one tiny live twig growing leaves. There are flowers behind Miss Muffet and stars like flowers on the ground. I would suggest she shouldn’t be crying over the spilt milk (well, milk-product), except that’s not what upset her. The book suggests that the card represents abandoning the physical to take care of the spiritual, but is that really what she’s up to?"
My Tarot of the Bohemians book says the Eight of Cups is about partial success at love.
This song may make even less sense if you haven't read or seen Game of Thrones.
When the ruling liege of Winterfell
Welcomes to the north his King
Joining with Joffrey sounds wonderful
Sansa hopes for a wedding ring
Little she knew of his cruelty
Then her father’s head on a spike
No longer a girl of vacuity
But choosing to hide her dislike
Chorus
The Master of Whisperers, the Spider
Comes along and sits down beside her
Tells her of her fate
Helps plan her escape
Always frying pan into the fire!
Engagement annulled to her delight
And his death she will not lament
Lucky to escape the sadist’s might
Of physical love - still innocent
But she's forced to marry once again
To Tyrion whose appearance brings
Such disgust she asks to abstain
He quips, “now my watch begins”
Chorus
Then yet another psychopath, young Bolton
Intercourse finally but only by rape
She flees fast after innocence stolen
Has friends now to help her escape.
Bridge
No longer a passive and feminine chattel
Though never to find love and marriage combined
With foresight and savvy, she wins the Battle
Of Bastards and nevermore will be confined
A resilient woman who learned to game the systems
Saw through deceptions and rewarded loyalty
Slithered and twisted but true to her convictions
No luck in love, but a survivor in reality
The Lady of Winterfell, love shared with her brothers
By Westeros standards, a success like few others

Ah, poor Sansa, her story told all in rhyme! I look forward to hearing this. Rhyming Winterfell with Wonderful is nicely ironic.

Sansa's story is so infuriating and wrenching. I hope we get to hear the melody with this.

Queen in the North!

I've only read the book A Game of Thrones and haven't watched the show or read the subsequent novels, but that certainly sounds like Sansa's toughness.

Great job capturing some complex plotting. Would love to hear this set to music!
