Great lyrics! I also enjoyed the guitar solo. The whole song has a special feeling to it, the one you get when you are unhappily in love. Though it is sad you don’t want to miss the feelings.

Great song Berni. There's lots of truth to these fine lyrics, as probably all of us have found in our journeys into romance. It's full of potholes and dangers. This is a creative take on love and I love it. :)

I watched this one on YouTube. Well done!! The lyrics crack me up.

Music makes the lyrics more down-to-earth and sad but also adds determination now when there's a solid rocking beat behind it. Your vocals have a nice precise quality, a little bit something like Ian Anderson has.

I really enjoyed this. I like the way you've anthropomorphised love (is that the right word?). Made it a sentient thing capable of independent action. And the sweet twist at the end is very nicely done!

With the music I hear the message in a new light, more of a statement of character and very much in line with several of the darker observational singer-songwriters I enjoyed listening to in the 1980s. This song could represent a pessimistic voice that most of have in our heads.

Ooh sounds like you had fun here! Nice work, and you have taken it in a different direction to what I probably expected when I read the lyric on its own. Enjoyed this :)

I love the music you added to these great lyrics. It’s got a great groove and interesting instruments with a great melody and rhythm.
One thing I noticed in moving from words on the page to music is that it takes a long time to get to the punchline. I wondered whether if I were listening without having read it earlier, whether I met have missed that turn. Of course it’s an amazing skirmish write. If you decide to turn it into a Worldwide hit, you might revisit whether to hold out so long on the point. Great work.

It's fun to see what you did with that prompt. I don't know how I missed yours, except come to think of it, I think I may have been interrupted and didn't finish the skirmish, but eventually finished the song.
Anyway, I'm glad I got back to this one. It's a fun, tongue in cheeky thing, with lots of your famous wordplay, and opposites, and wry little turnaround in the end.

That first line is great and sets up the whole song. Awww and then that turn at the end. Love sucks except for ours. That is a sweet turn. Nice work.
@klaus Feb 2022
Cool lyrics. They seem dark and bitter most of the time but then the last line turns it around and opens up new possibilities like is this new love affair the one he's been waiting for or is he still blind. :)
@misterdemp Feb 2022
This is a cool premise with connecting love to these well known sayings.

Love the last line of the last stanza. Wonderfully cynical take on love other than the love that really matters!
@tuneslayer Feb 2022
LOL that's a great set of lyrics. Put a tune to it ASAP!

A super nice text, it encompasses so many aspects of love . I'm pretty curious how it sounds sung. The final reversal is also wonderful... "With the exception, of course, of this love of ours".
@andygriff Feb 2022
A bit dark but very well observed and authentic. A good twist on the bleaker truths about love.
@hmstreetteam Feb 2022
This is a strong statement, turning a conventional view on its head and showing a different view. And then that sets up the unresolved twist at the end. “Exception,” or just more deception? Within the frame of the song, we really don’t know, do we?
@jeustan Feb 2022
Wonderful twist there that flips a whole new meaning. I'm left thinking about it after having enjoyed the first read through in all it's dark humor and truth. What a cool observation of how it feels to be in love and looking past the harsh potential energy that it proposes. Great write.
@prsongsmith Feb 2022
I feel like we might have been on a similar mental wavelength this time, @berni1954 ! Great writing here -- "Love can turn murderer if you hurt its pride" is a great line -- and I love the "exception" twist at the end. Well done. [My demo is up now, by the way...]
@writeandwrong Feb 2022
A lot of truths in this one and nice how you amusingly ended with ""With the exception, of course, of this love of ours." Nice skirmish.
