Feb 2022 post-rock collab zecoopdrums collapsechallenge random-collab
@elesimo: I got randomly paired with @jayjay for round 4 of the random collaboration challenge (https://fawm.org/forums/topic/12349/). They sent me an amazing lyric that immediately inspired me. I was also helped by @zecoop's drums in this one!
Slave to the Machine
Picking our bones clean
We barely survive
The one percent thrive
Slave to the Machine
Picking our bones clean
We barely survive
The one percent thrive
What happens when we stop?
What happens when we stop?
What happens when we stop?
When we just have had enough
What happens when we stop?
Slave to the Machine
Picking our bones clean
The Killswitch is dead
Keep working they said
Slave to the Machine
Picking our bones clean
The Killswitch is dead
Keep working they said
What happens when we stop?
What happens when we stop?
What happens when we stop?
What happens when we stop?
When we just have had enough
What happens when we stop?
Slave to the Machine
Picking our bones clean
What’s in it for us
Only their lip service
Slave to the Machine
Picking our bones clean
Tell me what’s in it for us
Only their lip service
What happens when we stop?
What happens when we stop?
When we just have had enough
What happens when we stop?
Slave to the Machine
Picking our bones clean
Yet we all comply
Afraid not to satisfy
What happens when we stop?
Let’s stop

A working-class anthem! Pointed lyrics and a strong musical mix to deliver them. Nice work!

I'm all in for awareness about that one percent disrupting the 99. Great message with an emotional delivery. This got me thinking of Roxy Music's 'Both Ends Burning'. #tit4tat

I'm not biased or anything, but you can't go wrong pairing up with @elesimo. Lyrically deft and very telling; timeless observation of living from generation to generation. This has Pink Floyd essence within it. Instrumentation and performance is nuanced just right. Great collab!

Wow, this is awesome! Heavy psychedelic rock and stellar lyrics. Love the way it powers down at the end. Great song!
@ballyhoot Mar 2022
Nice fuzzy guitar intro. Vocal delivery has an epic sort of quality to it, slightly operatic rock. Kind of reminds me a little bit of Gene Loves Jezebel. Lyrics are evocative and the repetition is effective. #tit4tat

This is interesting. I read the lyrics only quickly then ran out of time to comment. Now I’m listening to the lyrics out to music. Very cool…a random collaboration no less. Plus Zecoop’s drums…Great vocal delivery. I find myself yearning for the music to be a little louder in the mix. Important message we’ll communicated with lyrics. So true…We’ll done all around!

So much emotion in the lyrics and matched with the vocal and intensity of the music. Great collaboration here!
@kenmattsson Feb 2022
Killer vocals on this one. So much emotion on this one that really delivers the lyrics. Great set of lyrics by @jayjay and one of the strongest performances I heard this FAWM from @elesimo.
@katestantonsings Feb 2022
Yea, Jayjay @elesimo has done your lyric justice! Love the vocal and distortion on the guitar!
@coolparadiso Feb 2022
Love it when 2 people i have worked with come together! Great pick up and delivery Beto. I love this style of music! Of course its based around a really cool and thought provoking lyric. Well played collaboration.

I really like what you did with this. Vocals are great. I get @nadine’s Robert Smith reference. Lots of angst and drama. Keep the bass coming. Thanks @elesimo this was a fun collaboration
@nadine Feb 2022
Oh cool @elesimo take on @jayjay lyrics is here :D I also thought about using these but he rocked it in a very cool way.
The bass droning hits me quite hard. My desk is shaking. These is so much drama in this voice. Why does this reminds me on The Cure coming right from the batcave?! Though the lyrics are a typical Muse post-apocalyptic scenario.

I love the vocal theatrics. Reminds me of old school metal. Also totally behind the message. yeah, let’s stop.
