Just waking up and moving slow this morning........
big rigs and flags
traveling together
big hearts and hope
driving through bad weather
the news won't report
on the trucks at the rest stop
if you want to take support
to the local rest stop
the trucks are there
at the local rest stop
with nothing left to lose
they're gonna drive this week
just wanna be heard
exercise free speech
sick of the mandates
sick of the vax passes
sick of the masks
gotta stop the madness

This is beautiful. Just leans back and shines a light on individuals exhausted and trying to get what they need. . I love how you never mention people, never use the word truckers, just say trucks, but it makes me really think about it. These trucks don't drive themselves. Thank you for sharing this one. I think songs are such a great place for people to get to really see each other.
(Aside: I've noticed how the design of truck cabs has changed a lot, so that it's hard to see the drivers as you drive by, and nobody much has CB radios anymore, which was another humanizer. Good thing we have your song now. Great write.)

I figured your take would be an unpopular one, but it seems people are open to it. I think your "slow moving" take carries a lot of weight. Nicely done.

Wonderful expression of contemporary times. Love your vocals on this this and your gentle delivery of their message.

Great thought. I'm sick of it too. You could add "political" to your tag. Excellent job expressing your (our) point of view.

This is a very sensitive delivery of this message. I like the gentle guitar and vocal.

Mmm. Such an interesting take. I really appreciate your lyrics and voice in this. I feel like there's so many layers hidden in this, with the lyrics appearing to be very matter of fact upon first glance. I'm also loving the quality of your voice -- it's reminiscent of Mazzy Star. I love the repetition of "The trucks are there...at the local rest stop" at the end of the song. It's perfect. Simple, but not. Great skirmish here :)
