FAWM.org 2022 song 26.
My brother and his family lived just East of Lake Pontchartrain when Katrina hit. Fortunately, they had evacuated to Texas about 24 hours before Katrina hit New Orleans. Their house was left standing, but the waters rose to the six foot mark in their living room. Several houses around them were completely destroyed.
Fast forward to 2021, and Hurricane Ida hit New Orleans and New Jersey (and a lot of other places). Friends on mine, not a mile away from our home, almost died as their basement flooded in minutes, they made it to their second floor and survived. Not everyone was so lucky. Our township is 26 miles from the ocean.

Here comes the rain again and it's breaking down the walls
It's overflowing the rivers and it's turning them into falls
Where can we run? There is no where left to hide
The waters are getting deeper with the ever-rising tide
Our homes are being flooded, with people trapped inside
How do we get your attention before every single one of us dies?
There goes another home washing down the mountainside
The government said they'd help us, but now we know that the government lied
They told us that if want to live then we should shelter in place
But where can we take our children when no where else is safe?
Our homes are being flooded, with people trapped inside
How do we get your attention before every one of us dies?
The levees have all been broken and the dams have opened wide
The waters are getting deeper and there's nowhere left to hide
Our homes are being flooded, with people trapped inside
But how do we get your attention before every single one of us dies?

The new method for organizing the songs list brought me here and really glad it.
You have a really strong song here.
First thing that captured my attention was the sound of those first few acoustic strums. Just amazing! The instrumentation is sitting so well in the mix. I mean… wow. Your recording and mixing of this just amazing.
This is an awesome example of a protest song. Really good lyrically and hits the message really well.
On a personal note: as someone from the Houston area whose experienced a number of hurricanes and hard tropical storms, something needs to get done to change a LOT of different aspects of how we as humans live. The storms are only getting worse.

Really nice song. I loved the thick bass.
Really good story song. I love the chorus. It really hits the subject hard. Your voice really does a good job of projecting the anger.
I really liked the song.... and you’re not a bad lead guitarist :)
