Feb 2022 autobiographical introspective abandoned-by-the-muse make-the-problem-a-song quiet
Me being me, I got a five-minute song out of my inability to think of anything to write a song about. But I've not had a good week. That bit about walking into doors is true and my face is still sore and swollen.
Spent the last two hours staring at the screen
Cannot find my powers, notebook page still clean
Every idea fruitless, every start has stalled
so I sit here rootless, cannot write at all
Searching for ideas with a rising sense of dread
That inspiration's disappeared entirely from my head
Please treat me gently
I'm afraid that I might break
I've come up empty
and I've nothing left to make
Every line a struggle, can't complete a verse
Sitting here befuddled, feeling like I'm cursed
The problem lies within, it's pretty easy to define
Everyone has limits and I think I just hit mine
Beaten down by everything, I've been walking into doors
I know I should do something, get back up off the floor
Get into the swing of things, playing the guitar
Because writing and then singing things is simply who we are

That feeling is so frustrating. The track feels so anxious, I love how your voice sounds in this. Way too relatable to all of us, but you still got something really cool sounding and creative....sometimes the muse is a crazy mistress.....I liked this!!

An impressive mission statement of all our artistic struggles- musical and really well done!!!!

The sound shift at "searching" is well played, nice synth arps in here as well, this has a good feeling of emptiness and the pacing helps with that.

Nice write: captures the panicked feel of the block perfectly. The heavy guitar underlines that fear well.

Love the synth start and the big guitars coming in. From describing a barren writing experience you've managed to create a song about how the lack of inspiration itself can turn out to be inspirational. Very clever.

Love love love that ringy synth at the start, the awesome build and the space you give this song. Victory out of the barren blackness! Really great minimal epic… and that must be a thing, right? Wonderful
