You Lost the Piece
The puzzle’s all done
The edges set straight
Except that one spot
That one spot I hate
Nine hundred ninety nine of these
You were warned but you lost the piece
Sure it’s a village
I know you can tell
Potemkin Village
Oh go to hell
Nine hundred ninety nine of these
You were warned but you lost the piece
What are you saying
It did not come that way
It came from Goodwill
The box had tape
Nine hundred ninety nine of these
You were warned but you lost the piece
Wait, you can’t leave
We’ve got more to do
There’s six more puzzles
Plus this one too
That’s six thousand nine hundred ninety nine of these
Even though you were warned and you lost the piece

Good tangential take on the prompt. For conquerers countries are just pieces of a jigsaw to welder together by force.

Took me a bit to see how you used the prompt. Clever indeed! You certainly made the prompt your own in a unique and fun way!

The use of emotional words in rhyming positions adds some punch to this lyric. I like the escalation from beginning to end, where it starts out seeming to be in good order and then there is a problem and then a larger problem.

Funny take on the prompt. You paint a frustrating picture. Some nice words that help with the conflict. Nice work.

Brilliant take. The frustration is tangible! I love the use of ever larger numbers, and there’s some brilliant internal rhythms. Well done!
