As an early riser, every Saturday I listen to BBC Radio 3's Croissant Corner which plays a few French chansons by artists such as Tenet, Piaf, Brel etc.
So this is my little contribution to that genre. Apologies for having to take liberties with the translation (cheers Google) and of course my French pronounciation is typically English.
It's also probably my final FAWM song of this year so it's written with that in mind.
To quote from Fawlty Towers "Pretentiious? Moi?"
English translation (sort of!) below.
Au revoir mes amies
C'est la dernière nuit
C'était marrant
Mais nous courons
Au revoir mes amies
Nous nous reverrons
Chanter des chansons
Profite du soleil
Pas de travail
Nous nous reverrons
A londres et paris
Dans les rues de La Paz
Dans le jour et la nuit
Blues, rock et beaucoup de jazz
Au revoir mes amies
Amusant aussi
Jouer la guitare
Chanter dans les bars
Au revoir mes amies
Goodbye my friends
It's the last night
It's been fun
But now we must run
Goodbye my friends
We'll see each other again
Sing some songs
Enjoy the sun
Don't do any work
We'll see each other again
In London and Paris
In the streets of La Paz
In the day and the night
Blues, rock and lots of jazz
Goodbye my friends
Have fun
Play guitar
Sing in the bars
Goodbye my friends

Very cool. Love the concept. Are you playing the fiddle? That sounded great. This song displays impressive versatility. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed your songs this FAWM. Nice work Panch!

Well said, well sung! Great little farewell ditty. Au revoir, et jouer beaucoup de jazz!

Great write! The hot club feel is perfect for the lyric. The French reads fine to me, but then again, not my birth tongue.
