War and peace skirmish
War before Peace
You don't give me an inch
You punish me when you can
It's a situation that can't go on
You move in and threaten
You ignore the warning signs
There's no resolution until you're gone
We need a war before there's peace
You don't want to talk or meet
Aggression seems the only way
That all our grudges will be cleared away
And that pressures only gonna increase
Til we get our war before the peace
You have to get control
You refuse to hear others
Lets say on reflection that you are wrong
You always show your teeth
You attack for no reason
All your provocation makes you feel strong
We need a war before there's peace
You don't want to talk or meet
Aggression seems the only way
That all our grudges will be cleared away
And that pressures only gonna increase
Til we get our war before the peace
They'll only be one winner
Remember that before you start
Consequences will surely linger
But this is coming from the heart
We need a war before there's peace
You don't want to talk or meet
Aggression seems the only way
That all our grudges will be cleared away
And that pressures only gonna increase
Til we get our war before the peace

I like your relationship-focused response to this prompt. I was intrigued by that line there will only be one winner, especially with what feels like a threatening remember that before you start. Hmmm. Does that mean the singer will be the winner? Inquiring minds want to know. Good write. Hope you find music for it.

This is an unexpected and somehow more personal take. That's a very good thing, because the news weigh down on us so heavily. Beautifully put.

I really like this take, particularly how you've applied it to relationships. There's a sad resignation in the lyrics, which is very affecting. Great write :)

I love the different direction you took this and was hoping that someone would use the prompt in a more intimate relationship type of song. Well done! Thanks for joining in!

I like the personal approach in these lyrics; it's a nicely thoughtful exploration of interpersonal war and peace, that captures the dynamic of this particular relationship in a very clear-eyed fashion.

This is tightly written and well stated as a look at the origin of war. A spotlight on cause and effect.

Well said and true. Well written!
