humorous love ditty
Before there were busses and subways and cars
Back before Pluto, Venus and Mars
Before they brought moonbeams home in jar
I loved you.
Thomas Jefferson had not discovered tomatoes
The bayou had penguins but no alligators
Back when the Irish still hated potatoes
I loved you.
Now we are getting old, stooped and bent
All of our coming and going has went.
The world got old, it is going to seed
Still we have got everything that we need
I’ve got you.
Back before hogs stuck their feet in the trough
Women’s swim suits half on not half off
When just a little was probably enough.
I loved you.
Before they found molasses
Before algebra classes and rose-colored glasses
Before they invented the candle
And before the ax handle
And nobody gambled

This is a very clever and enjoyable ditty. With lots of great lines.
The humor and style made me think of Leon Redbone.
Great tune.

There are only so many ways to write a love song. No, I mean, there are SO MANY ways to...I applaud your creativity in coming up with a novel one. And pleasant to listen to, your fingerstyle guitar and voice are a nice combo.

Now this put a very happy smile on my face! Love and playfulness FTW! I loved the variety of examples and “ Back before hogs stuck their feet in the trough” really struck my funny bone! You do silly, sweet, and clever so well, and that traditional picking style was something else!

"All of our coming and going has went" -- great line! Super cute and clever lines in here. Love the folk-y vibe. Very sweet love song!

Oo! Such a sweet love song. I love how the first verse slides us into this -- moving WAY back in time. The subsequent verses pick such amazing images, and "all of our coming and going has went" is so creative. This is fantastic!
