I did an ‘improvised’ poem for this - spoken word. I tried a load of these out in summer to get some practice in on the concept that you get better at what you di. I would love to be someone who can do poetry on the spot in the bardic tradition. I don’t know what this is - abd sorry I don’t necessarily or can’t distinguish between poetry and lyric though I write both. Here’s what I did.
I’ve only just uploaded the video ( 4.3 22) not as a ‘performance’ but evidencing the process
Agree
Let’s just see
What the day brings
These are things
That really make a difference
Let’s just touch the strings
On my dulcimer
And when the tone rings
Go with it!
If it was up to me
There’d be more of these
Days.
When we look out if windows
And gaze
At our reflections.
Yet not quite introspections
Cause the stuff that’s coming out
Isn’t always about
Us
Just….
Leave it hanging there
If you have to stop
It means it’s not ready
To come out.
Like these words ( points)
They had clout.
Perhaps.
You never know that is
If you let it flow that is
Where’s it gonna go
That is…
Don’t you agree?
Now
Me
Who on earth is that person
Sitting here you think
Not a single chink of this
Apparently
Was ‘as is’
In the sense that
All our
Cells
Replaced themselves
And wgat gels?
What gels is
Always the wolf
That you feed.
Innit?
You become more
Of what you look for
Of what you adore
What you pore over
And what you abhor!
If you’re not careful
When you’ve a hair full
Of antipathy
Towards the stuff in your life
That gets under
This skin
Then you begin
Ti become
More
Like it.
No-
More like the shit
Less like the good bits
Hmm
Paradox innit?
To BE
more
Don’t you agree?
Stay in ut!
Win it!
Don’t always extract yourself
At the first sign it isn’t going your way
Cause hey
You might be plowing a furrow
That’s a burrow
That’ll save you
That’s what THIS gave you .
Thanks FAWM
And everyone here
Wholeheartedly from me!
Don’t you agree?

Brilliant. You KNOW me. That is a great tribute to FAWM and a great skirmish.

I like the free flowing rhythm and your use of shorter lines to great effect. I do think this is a poem, but I also think it would be super cool to put this to music. It'd be interesting to hear how one would treat it.

oooh a meta-lyric from an improvisation that flows well and packs a lot. Very cool take on the skirmish and thanks for playing!

I love how this unfolds as an open and welcoming call to follow your path amid the twists and turns and taking the moments as they come to find yourself beyond yourself.
