Aaargh SKIRMISHING FOR THE WIN!!
With the help of Band In a Box I've just immortalised my favourite pub in a skirmish! Niiiice....
It's a one take vocal and the key is too low and the tempo too slow but I'll fix it later...
The Radio Springs Hotel
It’s been a long week
Friday dragged its feet
But now the sun is fading
Every jaded local knows the drill
You can iron that shirt
A pretty dress won’t hurt
To chase the working blues
In weekend shoes
Let’s cruise on up the hill
Let Graham pull a pint, or pour a glass
Let your hair down while the music lasts
Somebody’s rosined up the bow
And the guitar’s set for raising hell
There’s no better place to see a show
Rocking at the Radio Springs Hotel
My my! Well well!
The bar is packed tight
But there’s never a fight
I can see their smiles reflected
On the mirror on the wall
I’ll play Dave’s favourite song
Jackie’s singing along
While she’s balancing three plates
and kicking open the screen door
Ken is talking up the movie night
While out of towners marvel at the sight
Somebody’s rosined up the bow
And the guitar’s set for raising hell
There’s no better place to see a show
Rocking at the Radio Springs Hotel
My my! Well well!

What a beauty! You get that feeling. There's something about a crowded Aussie pub, on a summer evening. if you're in exactly the right spot you could be involved in 2 or 3 different clustered group conversations at the same time and the clusters morph. It's a strange phenomenon I've experienced so seldom other places in the world. I remember a place by the beach in Melbourne, the esplanade (?) way back in the day, and one other one round the corner. I saw and sat in with some amazing bands, met some terrific people, who I still keep in touch with, ah good times! I can almost hear the clinking glasses and "pots" on waitresses trays. Country town pubs and RsLs came alive over there too. I have such fond memories of my time there.. ! :) This brought it all back, and in a skirmish, no less! Well done.
tit4tat2. Retuning your second #tit4tat with pleasure. So we 2 for 2 if it matters. If you would like to continue with me specifically, or with others on the list, as I said on my reply on the forum page, please feel free! :)

You paint a wonderfully detailed picture of this spot. You captured the feeling of a night in a friendly bar. It's a keeper! Great job.

Wow. Such a great classic vibe. If that pub did not exist, you would have needed to invent it.

Wow...BIAB for you Liz. I couldn't have predicted that, but, OF COURSE you sound like an expert in that, too. Very cool lyric--I think that I would love this place. Feels like I can imagine being there or something. (I just looked it up and took a "tour" and it DOES look like a lovely place!) Great melody on the instrumentation and the song is so well constructed that it almost disappears as an individual part with your voice and words. Really well done!

The title alone is worth the price of admission! I love all the specifics, from "every jaded local knows the drill" to "balancing three plates/and kicking open the screen door." You immediately make it sound like someplace anyone with any sense want to hang out at. If that's your local joint, we're all jealous!

I'm in awe. This is incredible. These lyrics are fantastic and it's so hard for me to imagine you could do this in a skirmish. Band in the box is working it's magic but there is so much here, skirmish or not. Love it!

Aww I love that the Radio Springs has a theme song now! I feel like I'm there :-) I love the bit about Jackie balancing three plates and kicking open the screen door... she is a master at that!

Man I miss a rowdy (but friendly) smoke filled (but not too bad) bar, but this took me there at least in my mind for a bit... it has been too long.
pitch sounds fine to me where it sits, but its been a loud day... so don't hold me to that, but doesn't sound "off" in any way. Enjoyed this a lot! Thanks for hosting the skirmish.

Fun to listen to and I love how you put all those characters in there, makes it more real. Good job!

Looooove this sound! Mine was a one-take vocal too, sometimes you gotta :) but this doesn't sound too low to me. It actually sounds like it's right in the sweet spot, especially in the chorus. It really conveys the vibe of this place, I think. I'd be interested to hear your updated demo but I also think this slams as it is. Nice skirmish!

Love the cosy warm feeling you create with your music and lyrics. Great detail in the lyrics puts me in that bar. Nice work.
