Feb 2022 ss022622a superskirmish loss
Just kicking around for ideas on this one.
I woke this morning
I think so
it all felt odd
I think so
kept on moving along
it’s better sometimes
not to figure things out
tried to remember
last night before
Did I go out?
I think so
Got to the point
trail turned cold
couldn’t remember
anything more
I looked in the mirror
and to my surprise
my tongue was sticking
out to one side
and I had X’s for eyes
…X’s for eyes
I must’ve lost my life
I tried not to panic
what’s going on?
I needed answers my questions but no one around
something must’ve happened
don’t know what
maybe something hit me
in the coconut

Eddie Money has nothing on you! I also love the ambiguity of shifting back and forth between a home chord and its augmented version. We watched "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" a while back, and the X's for eyes" and "tongue sticking out to one side" made me chuckle. I love this!

love the questioning quality of going in and out of that augmented chord in the versus. Fun story and concept!

I really enjoyed this, and the little twist also caught me off guard regardless of the title. I was nodding in agreement to the first bit reminiscing about my heavy usage days and having to play detective every morning :D Great performance too, especially for a skirmish... sounds great.
I know some people hate comparisons and I try not to do it often, but sounds like something Paul Simon would of written. Great stuff!

Really enjoyed this one -- I didn't see the twist coming (despite the title). Great write -- especially like the repetition of "I Think so" and the image of your tongue sticking out to one side. A keeper here (at least I think so) :-)

hahahaha this is imaginative and pretty good for just kicking stuff around.

That is a terrible night out! I was laughing at 'The image of 'my tongue was sticking out to one side' until I heard 'and I had X's for eyes'. These are strong images.
This was roller coaster ride. It started off goofy and fun, became morbid and sad, and then ended with a rather playful line.
I enjoyed the ride. Cool skirmish :)
