Feb 2022 folk acoustic-one-take guy-with-guitar dadgad ss022522g superskirmish survival
I think I have a couple of good ideas here melodically, chordally and thematically, but overall it comes across heavy handed to me and more like a shopping list of the global left rather than a call to action. But it's a skirmish so I will FAWM and move on.

DADGAD, kind of improvised chords and runs
Why is narcan free but insulin is 8 grand a year.
Said the meme made to sow uncertainty, doubt and fear.
These fears exploiters foist upon the working class
Like the immigrants will steal your jobs
and leave you on the bypass.
If we hope for more to life than survival.
We must stop seeing our neighbours as rivals.
If we lash our craft together we can weather the storm.
And make our way to safe harbour where all can find a home
Why are profits and dividends the goal anyway?
If made on the backs of workers earning minimum pay?
Who have to work 3 jobs to get by day to day
No one is unworthy of a home and 3 squares
Healthcare for everyone and safe schools and child care
The necessities of life are not perks to be earned
This world has enough for everyone a lesson all must learn.

Came back to listen through more of your stuff. This one speaks to me so much!

Important and powerful message! The stark contrast between verse and chorus is effective in making the chorus feel like a lift and shift. A lift and shift we all need. Nice skirmish!!
@andygetch Feb 2022
The lyrics are packing a lot of ideas. The melody and chords are effective. Good song start!

A creed to live by. Truth. Thank you for this song!

love this line. also, that meme has always bothered me. there's lots of good stuff in this sean. i really like what you were doing on the verses with the progression. bravo!!!

The DADGAD tuning and your chord choices give a rich sound to these lyrics, which have a great message. I like the chorus a lot! This is a really creative and positive response to the prompt. Great skirmishing!
@jwhanberry Feb 2022
I like the chorus, I can buy into that. It also requires our neighbors not seeing us as rivals as well.

Like those chords. This works for this skirmish and the earlier medicine one. Strong message! Important! Love the hook.
@chickenjail Feb 2022
Nice to see a take on this prompt looking for more than survival. Secret-agent-man vibes on the guitar intro feed into the paranoia/FUD aspects of the lyrics.

I like that chorus a lot. Feels like you could get there from a lot of places.
Also how as the verses feel a little like a super hero/super villain movie, and then the chorus opens up into a sunnier anthem place that reminds me of The Great Storm is Over by Bob Franke, a song I love. That's a lot to pull off in an hour. Good work.

Love your lyric, I feel the same in many ways. The open-tuning sounds good. Good skirmish!
