Going to the country,
Trying to make my way home
Old roads are paved over,
Think I know where to go
But my memory is fading
Things don’t look like before
Now the Friendly’s is a data center,
Bars are data centers,
Literally a horse farm is a data center,
They say that you can’t go home,
But know that you’re not alone,
What you’re looking for is all gone
What was miles of farmland
Is miles of zeroes and ones
Distributed in concrete
Transient dreams and thoughts
If you’re looking for something
There’s no door you can knock
Cause the Blockbuster’s a data center,
Farms are data centers,
The East Coast of America’s a data center
They say that you can’t go home,
But know that you’re not alone,
What you’re looking for is all gone
And we got vape shops
Restaurants that closed up
Places where we came together
Those places are gone now,
Slowly things would decline,
Some like me left early,
Other stayed, went online
Without physical spaces
All your life’s in your mind
Offload memories to the data center,
Friends through data centers,
The ship of Theseus is made of data centers
They say that you can’t go home,
But know that you’re not alone,
What you’re looking for is all gone

Clever lyrics. This is really well done, and your voice works really well.

This is of course NOT AT ALL what I expected clicking on a song called "Data Center".
But it makes sense. Out in the country isn't cows any more, it's windowless air-conditioned buildings full of servers.
We are all data now. Life is data. Every place is data. Death is a little more data.
