The writing prompt was treading. I thought of the treadmill and hamster wheel metaphors for not going anywhere. This is a c. 1973 folk style that I don’t think I ever attempted before.
La la la
La la la
Everybody says
You have so much potential
As if they want to throw
A wrench in my day
Everybody says
You could be just like your uncle
But if I’m in a funk
I might just stay that way
Everybody says
Keep an eye on what’s real
And everybody says
You can’t help what you feel
La la la
La la la
It looks and feels like I’m
Walking in a wheel
Everybody says
By now you ought to be famous
As if they want to throw
My name in a hat
Everybody says
It’s crazy the way
You go unnoticed
As if someone in a big black car
Might go for that

You've clearly expressed your point. The good chorus ties it all up together. Good skirmish.
Thanks for showing up.

Walking, walking walking, and getting nowhere. I feel this.

I really like what I will call the hydroplaning approach to this and your vocal and guitar delivery on a solid write that's brought to life.

Yeah la la la good! Too much advice and comparison. Everyone else seems to think they know. Nicely said and done!

I like the rhyming of "keep an eye on what's real," and "walking in a wheel." Very relatable.

I just finished a ‘La la La’ refrain song yesterday so good! I can really relate to the ‘stuck’ feeling you’ve expressed so well here. Great skirmishing!
