I almost overlooked the polysemy challenge, but when I found it, I knew immediately what this little song would be about. I love it that one and the same word can have such different meanings, and it was great fun to switch them right in the middle of the song!
immer gut gestimmt, wohltemperiert, bestens in Schuss.
**************************
Wings that I long for, they make me happy,
wings that the Muses grant; my song is dedicated to them,
wings that carry me to the spheres of music,
there is my home, there I find my greatest happiness.
Human beings need roots - and wings; one is enough for me!
Eighty-eight keys and a wonderful tone.
Steinway or Yamaha would not be an agony of choice,
Bechstein or Blüthner, it would make absolutely no difference to me.
As long as it is a grand piano that gives the sounds momentum.
As long as it is a grand piano that makes me happy at all times,
always well-tuned, well-tempered, in the best possible condition.
If I had a grand piano, I wouldn't be finished with this little song for a long while yet!

I love how some words and concepts are the same in different languages. It is the same in Dutch, vleugel means wing and grand piano. I love that there is no piano in this song :-) I love these short little songs. I finally realise why I love your music so much. When I was young, there was a Dutch late night radio show that used Reinhard Mey's Gute Nacht Freunde as their theme tune. I used to listen to it when falling asleep. Your gentle music takes me back to my childhood and lying in bed, feeling all sleepy :-)
