This song is about death; more specifically, being with someone in their last moments.
I was aiming for a King Crimson "Epitaph" vibe, hence the mellotron strings.
The acoustic guitar and vocals were recorded on my Android phone (using headphones with a mic). The bass guitar was recorded on my Steinberg audio interface, the drums and piano were VSTs in Mixcraft 8, and the Mellotron was from the VST RedTron.
The drums were actually a "Stoner Rock" beat from Jim Dooley, but I recreated it in MIDI.
You're clinging to the last strings of life
Lying in this bed, fading away
Knocking on Heaven’s door
The light in your eyes is dimming
The candle’s burning out
And the curtain’s being brought down
We’re standing by your bedside
With tears in our eyes
There’s nothing we can do
We’re always gonna miss you
I throw open the window
And the sun comes streaming in
Filling the room with beams of light
And you give your last smile
You’ve lived your life so full
Now you’re reaching the end
For so long, you’ve been a part of me
And you always will be
This grief and sadness is overwhelming
It’s not easy, but I’ll take one step at a time
You pass over to a better place
When your eyes finally close

you certainly nailed the King Crimson elements here. Such melancholy lyrics, matching the music so very well. I like the way the bass moves everything along.

Powerful, lovely lyrics. And I'm digging all the lush sounds in my headphones.
The verse about throwing open the window really gets to me. And taking it down to guitar/piano and then just piano, and then back to full orchestration, is an ace move. Quite a moving song!

More darkness, you're depressing the crap out of me, but it's by design so that's a good thing. The arangement here is rich around the emotion of the one who stayed behind. The piano solo is an ace breath before the big finale. This one deserves one of those artist fave hearts. Good stuff.
#tit4tat5 (?) I don't know, there's 1 more of your faves + 1 left if you wanna keep going.... hit me back if you do.

I love the sonic landscape of this song; the Mellotron strings really add some great ambiance. This is a pleasure to listen to.

Loving the epitaph vibes. The Mellotron strings are very moving—I was holding my great grandmother’s hand when she passed. It was a very special moment for me in my youth. Moving piece!! #tit4tat

Hah, I just finished commenting Pardon and mentioned KC. Anyway, this is a lovely song. So emotional and sad and with a dramatic piano break. It does have a strong Epitaph vibe but your lyrics are more concrete. That and your voice makes this your own.
