I'm not going to lie, this title sounds super mushy, like the kind of love you cringe at and avoid at all costs––and honestly, writing this song FELT that way––but on listening after recording, I'm kind of devoted to it.
These lyrics came from a moment between work meetings just jotting down the first thoughts that came to my mind, and they did clean up nice! Putting them to music, I again went with the first thing that came to my mind and fingers, which was a reminder that music doesn't have to be complicated to be fun and beautiful and interesting.
I have a problem;
it might make you blush,
but I can't help this feeling,
no matter how much
I rein in my wishes
and say in my mind
'this friendship is enough'
––because that's a lie.
I can't help falling for you.
DO NOT look around and ask me who.
I am standing here as living proof.
Now, I said what I said, and it's the truth.
I can't help leaning
into your warmth
and into the way we
read each other's thoughts.
You're all that I want,
but I'm still unsure
if there is anyone else
you may want more.
I can't help falling for you.
DO NOT look around and ask me who.
I am standing here as living proof.
Now, I said what I said, and it's the truth.
Oh, am I for you? Am I your ending?
Oh, am I the ruiner of any other love
that tries to rival me? Because it's easy to see...
The feeling lingers
though we don't talk at all,
then I'm on fire
going through withdrawals.
I can't break free from
this collision course.
Let's take it slow, but
you should know I'm yours.
I can't help falling for you.
DO NOT look around and ask me who.
I am standing here as living proof.
Now, I said what I said, and it's the truth.
Yes, I said what I said, and it's the truth.

Mushy maybe, but love is mushy. One of the hardest challenges is to write a good song with the title: I Love You. We all have weird ideas that simply saying: I Love You is simply not good enough. So we use images, metaphors and all kinds of trickery when really all we want to say is: I love you. And that is why I like your song. It simply says what the narrator is feeling. Also, I like ukes :-). That does help.

This is such a great uke and voice song - they work perfectly and you sing with confidence. It's a good song to express those *sigh* maybe- platonic crushes.

I love your voice in this! And nice uke as well.
I think your lyrics are spot on. I have a song like this I've been trying to record for years, but it needs a voice like yours to pull it off.
There is something endearing about this kind of vulnerable but assertive expression of love. Love like this seems only seems mushy to those who are too jaded or hung up to express or accept it.
Great song!
