Feb 2022 german guy-with-piano
So here's another quick one. I got it into my head that I wanted to write something in another language this year, and settled on German.
Here's the kicker: I don't speak German.
I would be particularly interested in some feedback on this one from anyone who lives in Germany. I relied heavily on internet translations both to aid me in the writing of this piece, and the pronunciation. I'm not expecting this will win any awards, but it was a lot of fun to do, and I hope I don't shame many of my ancestors by butchering their native language.
==============
When you are tired, come to my arms
Come to my arms and get some rest
When you are tired, come to my arms
Come to my arms and sleep
Dream of me, my love
I will meet you under the stars
When you are tired, come to my arms
Come to my arms and sleep

Sehr süß. It's very sweet. I love the idea of writing in a language you don't speak.

I am a native German. The lyrics: right grammatic. The way you speak it isn‘t perfect - but charming. It is a beautiful lullaby … reminds me a bit of Schubert …
Very nice!

a baroque quality to this, what with the German and the piano and the progression.
kudos for taking the leap :)
and another fine lullaby!

First thoughts are that I am so impressed with your multi-instrumentalist talents. The piano is so soothing and so well played. Such a lovely lullaby.
I actually do speak German (majored in that and Spanish in college). I have to say, for not speaking German, you did quite well with the pronunciations!

This is beautiful. You are certainly up to the challenge. I am learning too. Maybe I will do this one day. Thanks for posting!

Kudos for writing a song (and singing!) without speaking the language. I can understand it. A nice Wiegenlied (lullaby).

I read the lyrics first and was really pleased that I understood them perfectly (that's a year of Duolingo for you!). Then I listen and, man, what a lovely lullabye. I'm hearing a wonderful combination of Brahms and Billy Joel in the chord voicings, and the melody is wonderful. Really nice job.

Nice lullaby. The lyrics are correct German, only the pronunciation sounds a bit foreign in places :-)

I don't speak German either, but this is really pretty!

I’m listening to this at 8 in the morning having just gotten up. Now I want to go to bed again. :-)
Just kidding. I think this is a beautiful little lullaby. Und das Deutsch ist perfekt. Gut gemacht.

Nice. I wrote a Swedish lullaby which has a very similar tone and subject matter. For just doing internet pronunciation, it's quite decent. Your voice and playing sounds lovely regardless of the language.

This is really pretty!
