The sequel to an acoustic song I wrote for one of my first FAWMs. Wasn't planning on it, but thematically, it all sort of came together. Wanted to write something a little more laid back after all of the anxious songs the past couple days.
I was hoping I would settle down
there’s peace to be made, hypothetically
I was hoping I would settle down
the fury in my fingers feels like power
and if you knew me
I wouldn’t want to be powerful
I wouldn’t want to be powerful
I can feel it like a charge
hanging in the air
and it stands to reason
not going anywhere
I feel it in the blood
that’s rushing to my head
And if it’s taking over
It cannot be that bad, can it?
Can it be that bad?
Can it be that bad?
I was hoping I could settle down
there’s people to please, they’re focusing on me
I was hoping I would settle down
Holding their attention feels like power
and if you knew me
I wouldn’t want to be powerful
I wouldn’t want to be powerful

This is great. Really admire the way your voice cuts so nicely through the mix! The synths sound deliciously unstable and the whole arrangement perfectly complements the vocal delivery. Really enjoyed your stuff this year!

Very nice Portishead-like sounds. "I wouldn't want to be powerful" works really well. Why not add some harmonies to the vocals?

I like this one. Very chill vibe to it with some pretty heavy lyrics.
