Feb 2022 boy-with-guitar girl-with-harp duet
> emkaydeebee: I love collaborating with Alex, and always feel it's an honour when someone with such a prolific output finds time to include me in one! This one arrived in my inbox overnight, and it was a perfect. Couldn't resist a little harp too. It's fawm-level recording, time is tight, but I'm delighted to be back singing with you Alex - thank you!
Alex; Always a pleasure to do a song with you -- and I love the flavour the harp adds to the old-timey music!
Here We Are - Lyrics by Metalfoot
1:The day I met you
I knew that it was true
I didn't know if
You thought the same way too
2:The day I met you
I just did not like you
I thought you stuck up
You didn't have a clue
Both: But now here we are
After all this time
In life's journey
Making climb after climb
1:The day I asked you
If you would go with me
I didn't know if
You saw what I could see
2:The day you asked me
If I would go with you
To be quite honest
I didn't know what to do
Both: But now here we are
After all these years
In life's journey
Facing together our fears
1: How could I know back then how I would change?
2: How could I know back then you weren't so strange?
Both: As we learn and grow and share and care
We know we'll have each other forever, everywhere
2: The day we married
I knew that it was true
That I had found my
Life's best friend in you
1: The day we married
I knew we were through
With all facades now
Forever we'd be true
Both: And now here we are
Facing fading days
In life's journey
Still joining hearts in praise

Lovely duet, the harp adds so much. I love the negative stuff in the beginning... Not sure. What is this? Is this a good idea? Then switching to the long view, things have changed and worked out.
And the chord changes are fun, a little retro, with that secret diminished chord in there.

Looooove the harp on this, it brings such a bright joy to the song. And what a great story for a duet. I felt really quite sad at the end.

I'm not sure I've ever heard a harp as a solo line with a guitar. Fun to hear your harmonies together. Wonderful collab.

Great collab. Really sweet and upbeat feel to it. The harp is a brilliant addition.

there used to be a band from Brighton (actually from Leicester, moved to Brighton before they got any recognition) the Bobby McGee's and I could so see them doing this . . . . which us a huge complement I assure you.[

Oh wow i adore those chord movements in this and the harp is used in such a beautfiul way with the call and response. It has a feel of a classic song from the past and the way you guys have the conversation in the vocal works a treat. beautiful

What a beautiful song, both in lyrical story and as a collaboration. Wonderfully happy and joyful, with just enough quirks. I love quirky things. Lovely singing, playing and just a great tune!

Two great tastes that go great together. I adore the twinkly music-box aesthetic of the harp, and the dialogue with Alex's famous guitar is superb. Your voices come together harmoniously to sing a story of harmony. Warm, authentic and a real journey. Fantastic work, both of you.

I love how Alex sounds so sincere and emkaydeebee bitingly recounts the same scenes, but comes around in the last section.
Great collaboration.

Really great duet. Love the story and the harp is awesome!

great stuff - combination of voices in a duet and guitar and harp together are so good. I know the feeling of facing fading days very well. brilliant.
@mandolinda Feb 2022
Love this. The back and forth dialog is endearing. Wonderful collaboration.

WowWoWwOw! That is is a classic folk duet you have there. Your voices dance together so comfortably. Guitar and harp work equally well together. This puts me in mind of John Prine and Iris Dement In Spite of Ourselves. It stands on its own thought. Off to the recommended songs thread.

This is so lovely on so many levels! the song has a wonderful feelgood factor, both in words and music. And the performance is fantastic!

Oh, yeah, that harp is perfect in there. Nice harmonies, and good story. Very nice collaboration.
