I've never posted the same song twice but this is the folk version of the song "Home". I was pretty clear when I posted the original that I knew I flubbed the song (https://fawm.org/songs/132133/). I let my desire to be overly creative and play with electronic toys get in the way of what the song really needed to be and how I had originally arranged it which was as a straight up folk, love song.
This has been nagging me since I posted the song so I recorded a very quick version of what the song really should have been. It's rough around the edges but I think does the lyrics better justice than the last version. I can hear some other parts in my mind but will leave it as is for the month. Hope Liz likes it!
Liz says: first of all, I always love Catherine’s songs and am so grateful when she brings words to life! I like how Catherine experimented with the other electronic version but I really love the tenderness and comfort she bring to this version with the girl-with-guitar folky feel. It feels like being wrapped up in the warm nurturing hug of a loving relationship with her gorgeous vocals! Nice little guitar riff outro too. Love it, Catherine, thank you!!!
V1
in the circle
of your arms
in the warmth
of your words
in the smile
of your eyes
I find comfort…
L
comfort of home
C
wherever we are
wherever we go
with you I am home
with you I am home
V2
in the wisdom
of your thoughts
in the joy
of your laugh
in the kindness
of your touch
I find comfort…
L
comfort of home
C
wherever we are
wherever we go
with you I am home
with you I am home
B
you are my shelter
you are my sun
you are my stars
you are the one
C
wherever we are
wherever we go
with you I am home
with you I am home

"liz, liz, liz" :)
These short perfect lines lend themselves to such open musical expression, and it's picked up so tenderly here. Great to hear you again, Catherine.
Well done, both of you.

Looks like a good A-Side-B-Side challenge. I love to rearrange songs in a completely different genre and you did well! I enjoyed the electronic version and this one is more hopeful.

Very nice collaboration. Really nice setting for find sweet lyrics. Kind of the at-home version of "two of us"!

What a great interpretation. The lyrics read so clearly you can't help but hear the music. I love that there are two version floating around. I want to listen to the other one now.

Oh this is lovely! The melody is perfect for Liz's expressive and loving lyrics. I love the whole concept of being home when you are with the person you love. I like the gentle folky version, the tender sweet vocals and the steady fingerpicking. A beautiful collab ladies!

I love the melodies in the verses of this track, there’s something so warming about them. I’ll have to go back and listen to the other version as I love those kinds of comparisons. It’s a lovely gentle context for the track :) there’s a great joy in the experimenting with FAWM that I’ve found so it’s a pleasure to have both these versions!

Nice collaboration! I haven’t heard the electronic version but this arrangement is appropriately (and pleasantly) spare and let’s the words be the focus. Well played and sung, too!

Great collab. I haven't heard the other version but this feels like a good match for the lyrics. Just acoustic and voice makes it feel like you're at home, maybe sitting by the fire playing this for your partner.

So sweet and warm song! As always, I like your performance!

yes, the song comes across much stronger in this setting.
