Feb 2022 randomcollab guy-with-guitar harmonica
Alex: Random collabs are one of my favourite things about FAWM and this year I have struck gold - quork, bithprod, and now jlampson. I feel very lucky. As a kid I was never allowed to watch Seeing Things on CBC but after doing this song I kinda want to.
John: The lyrics are based on the popular Canadian TV show "Seeing Things", where a man has psychic visions that help him solve crimes. I love shows like Psych and The Mentalist so seeing a show that may have served as a creative spark for the creators of those other shows was a fun ride. I tried to base things in the lyrics off of events and cases that happened over the course of the series but also took creative liberties in parts, too. (I didn't use any guitars on this; that was allllll Alex, who rocked it!)
Alex: voice, guitar, harmonica
John: lyrics
Verse 1:
I'm a simple journalist
Concerned with finding truth
Turns out that my talent
Makes me quite a sleuth
Abilities I'm given
Have helped me through these times
I have psychic visions
(That) help me solve hard crimes
Pre-chorus:
Hockey players' deaths
Old sarcophagus
Chorus:
Did I peek inside your head
As you robbed the bank and fled
And watch you stealing diamond rings
Or am I just seeing things?
Verse 2:
The name is Louis Ciccone
At your service, dear
The clues I'll view and hone
Are sure to soon appear
Paved the way for Shawn and Gus
Helped inspire The Mentalist
May not be the Great One
But I'm known to persist
Pre-chorus 2:
Poisoned by the chef
Following the scent
Chorus 2:
Did I peek inside your head
As you robbed the bank and fled
And watch you stealing diamond rings
Or am I just seeing things?
I've never seen before
Bridge:
If you need me on the scene
Then I will need a ride
give me just a sec
I need to ask my ex
Solo
Pre-chorus 3:
With six seasons strong
Only once was wrong
Chorus 3:
Did I peek inside your head
As you robbed the bank and fled
And watch you stealing diamond rings
Or am I seeing things?
Outro (with call and response):
I've never seen before
(I may be seeing things)
I've never seen before
(But I'm not crazy)

This is great guys! Great story in the lyrics. Makes me want to watch "Seeing Things", which I hadn't heard of before. My favourite part of this song, though, is that wonderfully catchy chorus. I love it. The verse and guitar are great too, and your vocal Alex is wonderful in this. What an excellent collaboration. Love it!

Pretty cool Canadien themed random collab!

Love the driving guitars and how the change up for the chorus. The marriage of music of lyrics is perfect. Great rocking vocals too. I like how the lyrics have developed beyond the tv show. Cool harmonica.

I like musical treatment on the whole thing. I've never seen the show, but the lyric gives a good picture. It sounds like a show full of humor.

What a cool bluesy prompt on a TV show. Lyrics are witty and cool. The chorus is awesome.

This is delicious singing and playing.
For emphasis I will repeat.
This is delicious singing and playing.
John's lyrics are sly and really enjoyable and meaty enough, evidently, for Alex to show off considerably, what he can do! :-) The chorus is amazingly charming, must have been fun as heck to sing!

The swaggering blues-rock too-cool attitude, esp. on the chorus, of the maybe-not-so-reliable narrator who needs to ask his ex for a ride is great. This is a lot of fun!

That's a great song! I absolutely love vocal performance and song overall!

I love Shawn and Gus! I've never seen Seeing Things but I loved seeing that Psych reference. Such a fun collab! Love the vibes here. Well done.
