Feb 2022 orchestral skirmish-inspired pseudo-patriotic-psychedelic irish
I wrote another tune I couldn't play on the piano, so I enlisted the virtual BBC orchestra strings to render it for me. This reminds me of those rousing patriotic songs that no one sings anymore. I hope you are amused.
I routed my clarinet thru the guitar cabinet simulator with some random effects. I thought it would be cooler, but oh well.
I walked into the sky
To join the clouds in play
I didn't have to walk far
‘cause they’re low and gray
Late in the afternoon
Sun peeked ‘neath the clouds
To see what mischief I was up to
and if it was allowed
A passerby smiled and waved
As if it’s a common sight
To see me up among the rays
Of the setting sun’s light
How normal seems this point of view
from high above the roofs.
Is it strange, what can it mean?
Am I really that aloof?
Instrumental (psycho clarinet)
Is this enlightenment?
could it be nirvana?
Or have I gotten high
Just because I wanna?
I walked into the sky
to change my point of view
From up here the world seems right
there’s nothing more to do.
(Well, the solar panels could use a washing.)

The old-style patriotic melody (which is spot-on; could have been written 100 years ago) and the imaginative tale told in the lyrics are mismatched perfectly .... Love the clarinet solo, too.

This is another set of wonderful lyrics with a perfect musical arrangement! The song is alluring and the lyrics are picturesque, imaginative, witty, and wise. Well done.

Wow! Love the orchestral feel of the swelling strings and lovely piano as the stage for this wonderful lyric. I like the instrumental interludes with the clarinet. Fantastic story telling and wonderfully vivid images. Fun hook and insight!

The strings and piano sound good. It's a lovely melody you have going. The four lines started with - Is this enlightenment? - are quite funny. That gave me a chuckle. This is a solid production. Well done.
