Feb 2022 pop-rock dance-rock indie-pop
Usually at some point during a FAWM I reach a point where all my songs are meta creations about the struggle to be creative on demand. This year I hit that mark pretty late, but when one flows out and it's fun and effortless to just jam with yourself, it's pretty rewarding regardless of the results. This is one such example. The "goodbye versus goodnight" came from a recent documentary I watched about Abe Lincoln which reminded me about how he creepily told his butler "goodbye" instead of "goodnight" on his way to the theatre, like a frickin' rock star.
I told you i had been inspired to
make some art in here
but all i did was criticize and
stay up drinking beer
This could’ve been productive but I’m
tired of making hay
The sun went down four hours ago, and-we’re
gonna, die some day
CHORUS 1
Oh why don’t I try
to say what i’m trying to say without setting fires?
Oh how is it time
when the Day folds Into Day before Say’n good Night?
VERSE 2
Midwestern sensibilities have got me out of joint
We drag our feet in circles ’til we don’t get to the point,
My Irish guilt is all it takes to spiral down the drain,
My childish insecurities aren’t sure if they’re to blame.
CHORUS 2
Oh why, don’t I choose
to Do what I’m trying to do with nothing to lose?
Oh how, don’t I see
that Time is all i want though it’s killing me?
It only says good bye,
SOLO (VERSE)
CHORUS 3
Oh why don’t I try
to say what i’m trying to say without telling lies?
Oh how is it time
when the Day folds Into Day before Say’n good Night?
It only says Goodbye,
It only says Goodbye,
gooBye, goodBye.
It only says Goodbye,
It only says Goodbye,
gooBye, goodBye.

dude. this is another amazing song. i love the lyrics. love the melodies so much. it’s everything i love about listening to early weezer, and pavement, and the first couple of ben kweller albums. this is one of my favorites of yours

what a BOP good sir! listening twice. you've got some direct lyrics, some allegorical, and I like the intro/verse/chorus structure. and a fan of the subject matter as well :)
