I’m a patron of this amazing woman named Rachel K Collier, she does live looping Ableton stuff and is super inspirational. I got access to a sample pack of her song I Wish You Well last year and played a bit with some of the loops. Revisited it last weekend and played around some more, got it to the point where there was virtually no trace of the original, and I’m only actually using four of the loops - a synth swell, an arp, a ride loop, and a vocal sample. All the beats are mine (the ride loop is mangled beyond recognition so Imma count that too lol) and of course there’s my calling card prominently at the low end.
I wrote lyrics but decided not to use them, they’re about anyone who’s lost anyone during the pandemic, I’ve lost friends to car accidents, political issues, and other health problems, none to COVID yet thankfully. Totally different meaning than her original song, which is amazing by the way, check her out on YouTube.
I should mention, I had some major DAW issues with this one somehow. There's not much going on but I had to go back several versions to get to one that wasn't completely lagging the hell out of my CPU so I could record it. I'll def come back to this one as this is a very rough cut and I'm determined to gain full control over everything I wanted to do with it in the future.

Gorgeous. No DAW issues can keep Loopy down! I love the play on the title, but this is just gloriously built and expertly constructed. Not a wasted brick, not a beam out of place,.

Great build and progression in this one, the beats sound great and the vocals were a surprise that work well!

Interesting that you mention Patreon. I've been considering starting a Patreon for myself recently, where I guess the added value would be videos of my entire creation process (and maybe the final .reason project files too?). Maybe next year.
The vocal sample makes this so nice and epic. Before it came in I was thinking the song probably did need the vocals you wrote but didn't record, but once they came in, I think it's fine without. Cool percussion, and of course coolness at the bass end. :)

damn, wish i could get my mixes as clear as your "very rough cut"!!
the patience in your build up is good. you say that not much happens in this song - i think it does, just not all at the same time. it's a journey.
i'm using ableton too... our poor CPUs!!

I absolutely love that arping synth. It's the bed the rest of this is built on, but it really grabbed my attention. This is fantastic as is, but I'd be curious to hear where you take it from here.
