This is a song about the tail end of a relationship.
This is song 15 in @kcflowers FAWM project - recording an album full of our songs. We're calling the compilation Get to Yes. Hooray for Kathy.
Worn Out Denial
Written by Nancy Cunningham and Kathy Klopp
Performed by Kathy Klopp
I'm weeding out the closets, goin’ through your drawers
Throwin’ out the seashells we found at the shore
Rippin’ up the tablets where we kept the score
Tossin’ out your t-shirts, less is more
Lay it all out on the give-away pile
Use to be favorite, gone out of style
Lay it all out on the give-away pile
Can’t hang on to worn out denial
At first you hadn't seen her, butcha made your key amends
Next you'd been together, but only just as friends
Let’s rewind this movie, I know this one ends
I don’t guess you’ll break me¬¬, I won’t bend
Lay it all out on the give-away pile
Use to be favorite, gone out of style
Lay it all out on the give-away pile
Can’t hang on to worn out denial
You tell me that your sorry, you promise me you’ll stay
You can’t make it up to me cause I ain’t gonna play
You cast off our old life, you raised this hell to pay
I’ll keep pitching. I’m still purging,
You gave yourself away, you gave it all away, you gave our love away
I’ll keep pitching. I’m still purging,
You gave yourself away
You laid it all out on the give-away pile
Use to be favorite, gone out of style
Laid it all out on the give-away pile
Can’t hang on to worn out denial
Time to flip the channel, finally turn the dial
Return my something borrowed, walk back up the aisle
Laid it all out on the give-away pile
I won’t hang on to worn out denial
I’m letting go of worn out denial

This is awesome - I'm 30 seconds in, and already I can't wait to hear another!
I can picture this one set to a video - back and forth between the performer and the couple doing their breakup things.

Great collaboration. The lyrics are very powerful and tell the story really well. I like the 'walk back up the aisle' comment. The guitar and vocal are strong and deliver the words perfectly.

Oh, this is touching. I particularly like the double entendre in "you gave yourself away".
And it so very well fits the ethos of "If it doesn't bring you joy, get rid of it"!
