Walking down sunny North Broadway in Rochester, Minnesota last Thursday, after lunch at the Pannekoeken restaurant, I was struck by the inefficacy of the winter sun. The rhythm came while walking back to the L'Abri conference hotel.
Winter sun,
cheerful but not very warm
you're keepin' bankers' hours
and you cast long shadows;
winter sun,
you make us long for summertime,
forgetting all the sweat and grime
oh winter sun,
at least you bring us Christmas joy
the dawn of hope, a baby boy.
Winter sun.
Springtime rain,
soaking wet, you drench the ground
your April showers bring May flowers
bright with beauty;
springtime rain,
you're dripping down from verdant leaves
that colored drop from autumn trees,
oh springtime rain.
juvescence of the coming year
the paschal lamb and priest is here
springtime rain.
Summer breeze
mistral powers o'er the hills
you weave the wind through window sills
cicadas singing
summer breeze
like chaff that flees the threshing floor
both kites and swallows mount and soar
oh summer breeze.
a strong east wind revealed the way,
the dusty trail to glorious day,
summer breeze.
Autumn leaves
chlorophyl recedes from view
with yellow, brown, red, golden hues
of dancing colors
autumn leaves
your varied colors, fall to earth,
soon raked in piles, source of mirth
oh autumn leaves.
by laying their lives down each fall
the spring's rebirth yields trees so tall
autumn leaves.

The melody is very catchy and the phrasing is good. I hear a kind of happy Christmas music arrangement on this melody. Or some old school piano jazz? Definately something based on triplets.
