Feb 2022 experimental spoken-word weird kinetic-toys kinetic-treats kinetic-metal ebow
Just trying a bunch of ideas out as an experiment, building a track around Native Instruments's Kinetic Toys, Kinetic Treats, and Kinetic Metal plugins. Much weirdness is to be had with them, that's for sure.
Doesn't read the papers or a single book
Modernity, for him, has left its scars
No longer understands the news
He sits there, huddled in his lawn chair
His neighbours are concerned how much he drinks
All he has is sadness, the world has worn him down
Addicted to the madness of large crowds
There's someone like him now in every single town
One step away from shouting at the clouds
Gives each passer-by a single condescending look
At least as long as he knows who they are
A stranger, he is certain to abuse
His ideas muddled; he's on welfare
These days, he's learned it hurts to think
(And afterwards, they'll pick apart his life in search of clues
That's when they'll find he lost his mind from watching TV news)
Simply turning on the television's all it took
Didn't have to push him very far
They simply had to light the fuse
How many more like him are out there,
precariously balanced on the brink?

Nice. Very musical. Excellent chorus to match the moody spoken word sections.

Eerie vibe. I like how it seems to go from simply out of touch to quite possibly dangerous.

You really create a great sense of loneliness and hiding away from the world in these sounds,
@juoppis Feb 2022
This is like...like if you had something really depressing but it would be Primus.
Lovely, atmospheric. Terrible. Beautiful.

really interesting sort of scary/fairgroundy music! horn type sounds are really good! I think the narration works well and helps create a very dramatic effect. i like how it goes into that vox effect!

Nice write: the creeping dread of the music fits the story perfectly. I particularly like the horn (a baritone, maybe?) "Shouting at clouds" is a great hook for this song.

Hello @headfirstonly . It is your friends from Mrs. B's Grade 3 class. During the song, E was dancing like a mime trapped in a box. Here are their comments.
Mr. McG: I love the sounds of the Kinetic Toys. I need to make another song using them.
T: I like the song song because it was a very dark song.
C: This isn't a song I would play in my car normally but I like this song.
L: I yell at clouds sometimes. I don't know why I yell at clouds.
A: I really liked how you were doing the beat behind it.

Wow, that sound is something else. Almost like bones and organs... wrapped in a vinyl-like skin from a time gone by.
Dreary story! Lucky us, we're not in that position, eh? Yep, I'm definitely not shouting at clouds.
The words paint a vivid picture, and so many specific brush strokes, not a touch of mundainity, you do not waste a single line for fluff. Everything serves a purpose.
Very good!
