Karl sent me over these lyrics and I threw this together. I was going to make this a modern glitchy beaty song but the time signature wasn't right for it so just kept it simple.
When he walked into the loft
The conversations they all stopped
They all thought that he had gone soft
He was tired
Every morning cold as ice
Hits you right between the eyes
He used to be someone
But those days are gone
As you shuffle into life
In silence.
Every light had long gone out
All he wants to do is shout
But when he opened his mouth
There was nothing
He used want to be someone
But those days they are long gone
And it won’t be too long
Until…
He shuffles out of life
In silence.

I agree with the early Sufjan Stevens vibes. Such a lovely composition. The guitar picking is marvelous. Your whispery upper range is on full display here and it's quite nice. Well done!

Love that picking pattern at the beginning. Sometimes it is better to keep it simple. This works really well. Vocals are beautiful.

I love the melancholy feel. The simplicity and sparseness of the arrangement work so well with the lyrics. Excellent all round.

great verse melody - over that almost droning guitar. really grabbed me, especially with harmonies. the falcetto is so good as well. great write!

Truly beautiful piece - the guitar is hypnotic, I love the layers in the vocals. Reminds me of what I like about early Sufjan Stevens

This is beautiful. Again. Harmonies are amazing. Love the shift into falsetto of the main melody. Really well done.

This is beautiful in its simplicity. Repetition is really effective in the chorus with the change in the final one. Plaintive and emotive. Lovely the understated nature of the harmonies too.
