Part II: Exodus
Chapter 4 (Continued from https://fawm.org/songs/134082/)
The Man turned calmly around holding several hundred-dollar bills. Looking Jack squarely in the eyes he asked, “And what would you do with all my money?” Jack was taken aback for a moment and thought about what God had said.
“I would start a ministry where I could help people to feel safer in this troubled world full of insecurity and uncertainty.”
“Tis a noble endeavor indeed for a man with no pants”, said the Man with no discernable hint of irony. “The honorable Elijah Mohammed teaches that to give is to receive and he has trusted me for the first time to deposit the weeks tithings.” He looked upward for a moment in thought. “I think he would be proud for me to spread the gospel this week in a verbal as well as a fiscal sense.”
He smiled and handed the money to Jack just as a siren went off and a patrol car drove dramatically up on the sidewalk almost running over several public-school children.
“PUT YOUR HANDS ON YOUR HEAD!” The cop yelled into the megaphone even though he was only three feet away. Jack looked stunned and didn’t know what to do. The Man knew what to do. He put his fucking hands on his head. But Jack still just kinda stood there like some dumb privileged asshole. “SIR, MOVE AWAY FROM THE PERPETRATOR PLEASE.” Jack looked inquisitively at the Man who had just given him thousands of dollars. The Man looked back expressionless. “SIR! YES, YOU WITH THE TORN SHEET AND FISH IN YOUR BEARD. PLEASE MOVE AWAY FROM THE TERRORIST." Jack took a step back. The cop called for backup while he put on his riot gear.
We all know how this shit ends. It’s so fucking hard to watch over and over again. It’s absurd to even pretend like it's gonna stop any time soon so, let’s skip over the humiliation and injustice and just get straight to The Verdict.
The murderer learns from his crime
That’s why he came to Earth school
The victim sacrifices time
And then in turn
A lesson learned
Agrees to play the fool
I judge no one
The families see in black and white
And justice is their game
The peers cry, “Give back my life”
And in the past
Wore gloves and mask
But now find wealth and fame
I judge no one
No one without wealth
I judge no one
The verdict is myself
The system fails because it’s built upon a lie
The sinner’s sails christen ships into the sky…
What gives me the right to judge
Anyone accused?
I keep my hands out of the blood
And then make sure
My thoughts are pure
That I may know the truth
I judge no one
No one without wealth
I judge no one
No one can I help
I judge no one
I'm guiltier than hell
I judge no one
The verdict is myself

This one is really powerful, love how it builds up to that sick guitar solo. And how it's built around 'the verdict is myself' which is unexpected or just a different way to put it. This all makes me want to hear more, which is good.

Great feel, you got the Cohenish vibe down! Sounds great as usual, I really like the percussion in this. Nice touch with the huge percussive element in the background (is that timpani?)
