Struggling for inspiration for song 10, I did something different with a spoken word verse. It's about memories that come out of the blue... actually, you'll find out, I'll tell you in the song.
Buckets of background/road noise from the caravan park i'm staying at (some birdsong is real, some is augmented!)
We were kids, didn't know very much, hardly even men, barley even functioning humans - not quite dependants any more, but not quite dependees, an in between place.
Now that's made all the more harder if you're on the fringe, or your not 100% comfortable in your boots, or you find things a bit, too hard, bit too soft, or a bit too loud,
Nevertheless you soldier on, you got to make shit work right? Now inside this giant confusing puzzle we cling to things, people, places, food, whatever gets us through the day
People is an important one, as humans have a innate ability to make life horrendously harder, or miraculously better, mostly it's somewhere in between,
---
Out of blue remembers, all the in betweens,
buried bits of beautiful, will fall to memories.
---
Place memories are funny, you can classify entire suburbs in a time period, tv shows, friends, music, a geographic time machine you can jump in-and-out of.
If you say "Scrubs" and I say Richmond, if you say "The Shins" and I say Carlton - pins on a map or sounds in your ears, they're one in the same, and they invoke each the others ghosts.
Now I've got a lot of time on my hands lately, and I find myself thing back to earlier parts of my life, and things I could have done better perhaps - It's a slippery slope, as it feels like I could have done everything better sometimes.
But if I chalk it up to just a young adult figuring shit out, then my days have been pretty good, and in between i've had a truely solid bunch of people to help me make those days what they were.
-- Chorus
-- Break (disastrous whistling solo)
So I need to ensure this not-so-young-adult is making small improvements, moving forward, so the inevitable actually old-adult has less things they wish they had done better. But something tells me no matter how hard you try, you'll always have those things you wanna change, and that hindsight is twenty-twenty.

I really, really like the whistling solo ... sorry to contradict you! It's perfect in the context of the song.

I like the spoken part, makes you focus in on what you are saying. The Mmms in the background set a nice atmosphere. I like your doubled vox, they sound really wide and smooth.

cool song! I feel like I'm watching a musical or something, the quirkiness is charming, love it

Oh this is lovely. The hmmmms are so pretty. The nature sounds in the background add a lot. The spoken word sounds just right. I like the kind of stream of conscious lyrics. A lot of wisdom in your song.
