I'm not religious, but my sister Joanna Haas wrote this really cute poem as part of a puppet show for church and asked me to set it to music. This demo is noisy because I just recorded it on my phone.
By Joanna Haas:
I have God-swinging strings
Life-giving, soul breathing wonderful things
(Perfectly wonderful things)
I have God-swinging strings
(I can fly without wings!)
He directs my ways
(He's the ancient of days)
I have God-swinging strings
And out of my mouth
come God-singing sings
If you think it's sad to be a puppet
No choice to make
Not even to lie in a heap
It's sadder yet to think you have no strings
No guiding hand
No loving voice
No nothing
Just knots
I have God-swinging strings
Life-giving, soul breathing wonderful things
(Perfectly wonderful things)
I have God-swinging strings
(I can fly without wings!)
He directs my ways
(He's the ancient of days)
I have God-swinging strings
And out of my mouth
come God-singing sings

I really enjoyed this! I love the jaunty and light feel (and of course your voice soars on it) - and your sister's lyrics somehow get to some really big ideas in a beautifully simple way.
