Just a rant....self explanatory I think :) Asked my friend, bad ass rapper Tyler Durdin, to add a rap and he crushed it.
Every day she calls on the fighter
That she keeps stuffed inside
Working and toiling till her blood boils
Just to get to the starting line
Now it’s a matter of fact that history’s stacked
against those of her kind
But there’s a righteous man with a gun in his hand
Just dripping in denial
And he stokes
Stokes the fire
Puts her in the hot seat
calls her a cheat
a fraud and a liar
Go on stoke
Stoke the fire
When he keeps her low
And stays in control
He can hold his head up higher
Oh, he knows how to stoke
No don’t you claim to be blind
with your hands on your eyes
and refuse to change where you stand
We can’t undo the past
but what’s ahead on the path
Is in your bloody hands
Open up your mind and you might find
There’s a future that’s at stake
If you can’t swim when the water’s rise
You’re gonna go down when the dam breaks
But you stoke
Stoke the fire
Refusing to see inequity
Won’t pardon your empire
Go on stoke
Stoke the fire
When they keep you low
And stay in control
The situation’s dire
They know how to stoke
Hey y’all
It’s Tyler Durdin on the microphone
Depression keeps nestin
I guess we less than invested
Decide we fine with divided
that’s why the press is congested
Dear God we blessed or we stressin?
I wish we kept it progressin
I think we locked to convention
and now at best we regressin
A bunch a lions and sheep,
we seem inclined to aggression
I guess we bleed by design
and we need divine intervention
It’s all a joke, they think they woke
when they just smoke in the fryer
Poking the bear, saying they care
when they just stoking the fire
But you still stoke
Stoke the fire
Refusing to see inequity
Won’t pardon your empire
Go on stoke
Stoke the fire
When they keep you low
And stay in control
The situation’s dire

Doh! The song I am currently working on had a working title of “Stoke”. Perhaps I’ll choose a different line to elevate to title status. Great guitar sound on this. I like how it creates a deep edgy groove that works equally well with your blues inflected rock vocal verse and the rap section. Tyler does indeed crush it. Great rant, rap and song.

Yessssss….. love the power in this driving music and the pointed important sociopolitical message! Awesome hook and emotion in York vocals and perfect to have the great rap section! Love this!

Good song, Beth and the rap break is excellent!

This has some killer Miranda Lambert vibes and the radio is both dope and contemporary. Well done
