combining progression 31 and 32 from the 1to100 challenge (https://fawm.org/forums/topic/12323/) in Eb
lyrics a bit of an afterthought, but happy with the skirmish quality
Now, late at night
I am standing alone on the pier
and the moon is no solace
and my sun is years away
stolen by a goddess
Still is the sea
Stiller still the moon's reflection
and my sun is years away
banished for insurrection
will you one day
comprehend my dismay
my love
you have chosen to leave me
Now, late at night
you are standing alone far from here
maybe even with someone
Somebody else
yours to have and to hold
and I'm here
serenading the gone one

"a bit of an afterthought" you call the lyrics?? We'd all lay down our lyricist pens if you actually concentrated on the lyrics then! It's a tender and slightly but not overly melancholy song. Virtuoso backing, too.

Nicely done! I agree with the other comments, the "stiller still" section is great. Sweet chords.

Love the rhythm! "stiller still" love the polysemy challenge :)

What a lovely melody and lyric. Very vivid. Sad, but sweet song. Love the light touch on the guitar. I really enjoyed this.

Cool Django Reinhardt feel to the guitar on this track and I think the lyrics work really well here especially on the "Still is the sea..." section.

This was from a skirmish?! wow. The instrumentation is gorgeous, and the lyrics do work -- I like "and my sun is years away" and "still is the sea/stiller still the moon's reflection" -- nice multiple uses of still. And the melody on that bridge-y section (will you one day) is a glorious change.

Nice..it has that 30s jazzy vibe even the lyrics have an classic feel.
well done

Vibe for days; I love the mood and intimacy the lone guitar part lends this, and would I be just the latest in a long line to note a certain Sting-esque quality to your vocal? This lyric is a really fresh way to do the whole moon-and-heartbreak thing. Oh, and just realized this was a skirmish? Well played indeed!

Wow... stunning... and super fine lyrics... afterthoughtin' good enough for me.

Crafty devil! This is brill and chill. (building and feeling, respectively) I can't even begin to fathom how can you afford those academically wide melodic intervals! Come on, shoot the movie!

I love the freedom of this. Nicely done
