I'm back after a couple weeks of sinus issues and self-conscious over-judgemental doldrums, determined to at least finish the sprouts that I started this year and finish with a few more up here. Trying to not curse at myself too much and just get the stuff down in an organized fashion rather than be frustrated at massive imperfection.
We barely ever touch anymore
Used to be we could feel the air
The texture of charming danger
Kept us just far enough apart
And the smell of you I didn’t realize
Was always made from guilt and disguise
When there was nothing left to hide
There was nothing left to excite
Pour it in, let me read your mind
Know where you are when you’re gone
Running hot or cold
Running fast or slow
Just let me get another sense of you
The sound of a whisper or a name
heard only a time or two
Words have blurred but the tone remains
all static fades eventually
You’re a sight for this sore mind
Images burned in the past
Pictures keep on picking this scar
No better way to see you now
Pour it in, let me read your mind
Know where you are when you’re gone
Running hot or cold
Running fast or slow
Just let me get another sense of you
Whiskey kisses and smoky bars
Never quite were the taste we were
Seasoned so much it would conceal
All the flavors we’d truly feel

I really like that jangly backing going on. It is very evocative and builds nicely. The vocal over the top works well too.
