I have no idea what to do with this one. I just made up a person, killed him and added some mystery to it. Most of the story is written between the lines.
They called him Jive and he drove an ambulance for a living
He was known for being a badass and totally unforgiving
And how he got an honest job nobody really knows
He had a snake tattoo on his shoulder and a scar on his butt
Two fists made of solid steel and gravel in his gut
And ever so often his phone would ring and he’d say, I gotta go!
Now, Jive was never able to figure out which step went wrong
And we all know that people like that don’t live for too long
But when he got those phone calls his green eyes would glow
When you live a life on impulse like a child of circumstance
Sooner or later someone will take you out of the dance
So his curtain fell and he lay there like a ragdoll in the snow
Chorus:
Jive was dead
He’d bled to death
A wound on his head
He’d caught his final breath
No ambulance got there in time to save his hiney
There’s got to be some irony in that, but it ain’t funny
They buried Jive in August, and it rained throughout the day
Beneath the few umbrellas you’d hear distant relatives say
Who was he really? I can’t say that I knew him that well
By the trees stood two guys making sure he was really dead
A bullet in the head can’t kill scum like that, they said
But Jive had left for good to drive his ambulance in Hell
Chorus:
Jive was dead
He’d bled to death
A wound on his head
He’d caught his final breath
No ambulance got there in time to save his hiney
There’s got to be some irony in that, but it ain’t funny
Bridge:
Amongst his few possessions they found a record autographed by Kurt Cobain
A crumpled piece of paper with a poem he had written about his pain
A photo of a little girl in oversized boots out in the rain
A framed commercial driver's license and twenty grams of crack cocaine
Chorus:
Jive was dead
He’d bled to death
A wound on his head
He’d caught his final breath
No ambulance got there in time to save his hiney
There’s got to be some irony in that, but it ain’t funny

Man. I gotta say. This is pretty awesome! I say it’s a keeper. This is definitely my kind of Jive! Really.
