I found this title in my notebook, and I think it is a leftover from a 50/90 challenge last year about writing a song based on a geometrical shape, or something like that. I pictured this hexagonal "dansrotunda" (Swedish for a round or roundish dance hall) but I never got around to writing any song at that point, so I thought I'd pick up the challenge now.
I recorded this at the end of a long day, and in hindsight I think perhaps an upbeat two-step would have been better than a waltz. It sounds a bit like the protagonist might not even make it there himself.
Come and dance tonight at the Hexagon House
No need to dress up or sharpen your brows
Come as you are
Everybody's a star
Tonight at the Hexagon House
Come and dance tonight at the Hexagon House
I'll be the cat if you'll be the mouse
Let's play around
I will hunt you down
Tonight at the Hexagon House
Come and dance tonight at the Hexagon House
The moon is up and we're all aroused
The bar is high
And nobody's dry
Tonight at the Hexagon House

Beautiful melody and arrangements and the harp playing is so fluid. There was a hexagon house near where I grew up in the West Country and so, for me, this song has a particular resonance. The ambiguity and implied edge to the lyrics has kept pulling me back for yet another listen.

Well, if they didn't make it there, they at least passed out happy and drunk in a ditch on the way. That extra bar before the final lines of each verse works really well.

I gotta say that I appreciate your music more for each song that I get to take part of. This one really took the edge of my yearn for going to the mid west. I am sure I was there just now.
Peace

Sounds good to me, love the mandolin! The sweetness of the strings combines nicely with the pleasant gruffness of your voice.

Actually, I think the 3/4 time is perfect for the theme and images. I'm still waltzing inside that hexagon house!
