Today is 22-02-2022, a palindromic date! (Sorry people that use MM-DD-YYYY. Also, pi day is totally July 22nd, because 22/7 ~= 3.14. None of that March 14th nonsense!)
What better way to celebrate a palindromic date than by writing a palindromic song? The words in this song are the same, forwards and backwards! Isn't that cool?
I wrote a similar song back in 2020 (for 02/02/2020, a palindromic date in MM-DD-YYYY and DD-MM-YYYY!) with @littlespiral. It's one of my favorite songs of all time, check it out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AbOEPFGzlCE
This one doesn't have music. Yet! Maybe you want to give it a go? Wouldn't it be nice to write a PALINDROMIC CHORD PROGRESSION for it?!? If you're so inclined, feel free to give it a try! I probably won't have time to do it, unfortunately.
Here is Spring:
The ocean becomes rain
Falling when we are distant
Always.
Are we but friends?
You can forgive β can I?
Where are we now
If not together?
There is something:
Know I love you.
For hope brings rain brings hope
For you, love.
I know something is there.
Together β not if β
Now we are where I can forgive.
Can you?
Friends, but we are always distant.
Are we?
When falling rain becomes ocean
The Spring is here

Awesome job!

Wowsers. This is brilliant!
Massively impressed over here in Birmingham.
::applause::
@vegansongs Feb 2022
I love this lyric. May I try and make some music?
@keithcuts Feb 2022
Whoa. Are you kidding me?
That is incredible. Wow
My left brain is satisfied and my right brain is giving a standing ovation
@andygetch Feb 2022
I love the weather references, especially to the palindrome of the evapotransporation cycle.
@rubberbandage Feb 2022
So awesome and amazing! Truly brilliant weaving the lyrics together this way. Can I suggest that in addition to the palindromic chord progression, you should record an instrument backwards for the first half and forwards for the second (which will obviously sound the same when the whole song is played backwards too).
@nadine Feb 2022
What a damn cool idea! And I love that you picked up friendship as topic. This couldn't be more mutual and palindromic. This is so clever I lift my hat.
@stephenwordsmith Feb 2022
Is it crazy how saying lyrics backwards creates backwards lyrics saying how crazy it is?
I'm an absolute sucker for anything. Palindromic and this is beautifully executed. Agree with Nancy that you've captured the parallels between fluvial cycles and cycles of friendship.
@bachelorb Feb 2022
This is great!! A beautiful song about friendship.
I would like to try something with this using your first and last verse (90 seconds you know :D ) if that is ok with you.
I understand if itβs not. My wife the painter would hate me tearing one of her paintings in half and use it for something :)
@nancyrost Feb 2022
Wow! You've found such a fitting use for this form, showing how water and relationships can follow palindromic patterns - it's clever, yes, but also really insightful and moving. Great lyric!
@kenmattsson Feb 2022
This is so clever! I've love to set it to music if I had more time. Someone else get on this!
