Feb 2022 slothcore
This is my #slothcore contribution for FAWM 2022.
My original plan for this was to record a 30 minute long video playing the song 8x slower (at 5 BPM!), and then play the video 8x faster at 40 BPM. I gave it a try today, but 3 minutes before the end it started raining heavily — in California! — and I had to run inside with my equipment.
(I'll probably give the video another try during this week if I have time.)
Edit: I took a look on what I have from the video and I'm not sure if it's going to work. Today I wrote the song that you can hear posted here, then stretched it 8x and bounced it to cassette without the guitar part. During the video I played the guitar part over the cassette, but of course I had to play it super slow on the low E string, so that when I sped up the video again it would increase the pitch by 3 octaves!
I did a test and after speeding up everything 8x it just sounds muddy. Not what I expected at all. C'est la vie, if you're not failing you're not trying hard enough. :)

Ooh, I love this! Makes me think of rain, probably would even if I hadn't read the liner notes first. Also makes me think of neon lights interspersed with flickering fluorescents. Slothcore is my new favorite genre.

Whoa, so ominous!
I like the heavy bottom end with the guitar skittering around on top.
Really atmospheric.
As others have said, a real dark SF vibe here.
Nice.
Gosh I love Slothcore.
@alanonymous Feb 2022
amazing doomy sludgey track! and ty for pointing me toward the similar FAWMer, I see the similiarities
@bri4n Feb 2022
This is a very haunting little ditty here, and I love the atmospherics that come in around 2:10. Somewhat prophetic of the impending rain, perhaps.
@jamesstaubes Feb 2022
This sounds like rain to me. It's quite cinematic. I see a detective hunting down a killer in a cat and mouse game, in an abandoned warehouse.
@billwhite51 Feb 2022
downtempo industrial music for a ballet adaptation of eraserhead?
@ericlord Feb 2022
Ah man that's really too bad, sounds like it would've been an awesome video !
Regardless, that track is really interesting. The choppy distorted rhythm makes the song imo, it's so cool and combined with the noir atmosphere it really adds to the bad guys vibes.

Love that grinding rhythm, so powerful. This is an armored nuclear sloth from deep space, not our terrestrial tree-dwelling friends. Those grinding sounds are so powerful.
Sounds good here, so whatever difficulties you were running into don't seem to be present here.

This is great Beto! Love the tones and dreaminess of it.
@bachelorb Feb 2022
I love the hard hitting bass notes. It works great against the ringing tones. Really nice!!!
@dzdandcunfsd Feb 2022
WOW! this is sooo heavy for being so slow... surprisingly so! Some of those high tones are literally chilling as well. This makes me want to do some ultra slow headbanging LOL!
This is really nice! Do let me know if you get to the video in case I miss it. I think a sped up video will be an excellent addition to this.
Oh got my slothcore republic shirt today too! Just put it in the wash... unfortunately wasn't wearing it while listening.
@candle Feb 2022
Now I want to see the video LOL
This is electrifying, Beto! I love all the tones you have here. They work so well together. This makes me think of a gritty near-future cyber-punk film (a homage to Blade Runner or Ghost In The Machine maybe?). Yeah, now I definitely want to see the video, 'cos I'm really experiæncing this in a visual way. This is an awesome song, Beto! Great work.
See You In The Shadows…
