Wife requested that I write a "pop song".
In other news... it's a snow day tomorrow! So, I might actually make it to 14!
I have fallen to the valley of that autumn afternoon
And still damn the clever nature of that star; who golden bloomed
We were promised ever after, but winter came too soon
And left me clutching to the heather of that autumn afternoon
Would that I could fly
I'd fall along with you
Look you in the eye
The way that lovers do
Our hearts would meet the sky
No one has to cry
Oh, my darling, can you see it? How the day just fades away
Our shadows stretching past perception neath a sky of marble grey
Though I offered, you neglected to take my hand, lest you stray
The footing worsened by reflections of some now forgotten day
Would that I could fly
I'd fall along with you
Look you in the eye
The way that lovers do
Our hearts would meet the sky
No one has to cry
This old mountain has a clearing when you make it to the crest
You can hear each passing moment through the beating of your chest
The clouds revealed the heavens, one star brighter than the rest
You reached as if to catch it and fell an endless cold descent
Would that I could fly
I'd fall along with you
Look you in the eye
The way that lovers do
Our hearts would meet the sky
No one has to cry

This is wonderful. That warm strummed guitar sound, the unusual harmonic development (especially that ascending progression of the main hook) your gorgeous voice and the evocative, detailed lyric. So glad to have discovered you. ;:)

You have such a unique and interesting voice. It's beautiful and really shines with this lovely melody. Your lyrics are really special too with their stunning imagery, like "Our shadows stretching past perception neath a sky of marble grey." What a beautiful song this is. I love it!

Yay for snow days! That means more songs.

Haha even your “pop songs” are still so rich in imagery and language. I appreciate your songs as poems just as much as I appreciate them as songs! ️
