ZeCoop: I have always loved Carley's voice/songs and when she joined the 4-track challenge this year, I was really excited to hear what she came up with. I also thought it would be great to do an actual song collaboration. This was the second song to find its way out of my newly repaired Silvertone 6 string (hooray for wood glue!), and it instantly made me think of Carley's voice. I could not be happier with what she came up with. What a natural and beautiful melody that absolutely completes the song perfectly. Thank you Carley - I really loved writing this with you! :)
Carley: I was honored when ZeCoop approached me with something in mind for a collab. I took one listen and loved it; instantly I was at my favorite local coffee shop on a typical winter day in Portland, looking out the big picture window. The lyrics came quickly and I sent them off— totally surprised to listen back and find that I had placed the track a beat behind where I intended it to be. But it mostly worked! (Not gonna lie, probably 40% of my FAWM studio experience is stuff like that, things I didn’t think of on my own but they happen accidentally and it turns out so much better than what I had planned) Really happy with how this one turned out. Thank you Z, it was a treat!

**interesting quirk about collaborating over the internet is that 'interesting' things can happen in either the way people hear a song, or the way they record a song. In this case, I put the vocal file in and *loved* it, but when Carley heard my mix, she let me know that for some reason her file put her vocal one beat later than she recorded it. It worked wonderfully in the verses (and ok in the chorus). After discussing, we ended up using a mix of the two timings. Hooray for happy accidents!! :)
It’s a wild and windy day
At the neighborhood café
Trees nearly blowing sideways
Cloudy towers in the sky
All grey and blue and white
It’s another one of these days
But the sun is out there somewhere
Someday soon it’s gonna shine
Here comes another day
Brace for another hurricane
The chaos is never-ending
And everybody that you meet
Is just this side of a scream
Brave faces all pretending
But the sun is out there somewhere
Someday soon it’s gonna shine
I know it doesn’t always seem so
But it’s gonna be just fine
Then I see you in the window
And you’re headed here to me
If there was anywhere I had to go
There’s nowhere I’d rather be
Have a coffee, watch the rain
As it washes down the drain
It could rain like this forever
But we’ve adapted well
Zip up your outer shell
And we’ll walk home together
Because the sun is out there somewhere
Someday soon it’s gonna shine
I know it doesn’t always seem so
But it’s gonna be just fine

Beautiful! #tit4tat

This is just lovely. The gentle acoustic backing merges well with Carley's delicately descriptive lyric and plaintive vocal to create a winner of a song.

Oooh. I like the offbeat-ness of the verses, feels like it shows that windy, hurricane, upset atmosphere.
And that turn to make it a late in the game, love song, Beautiful collaboration.

This is so great. I am in Eugene, so very relatable. Love the guitar and Carley's vocal. Nicely done!
@mikeb Feb 2022
Wonderful sounding collab!
Carley's sweet vocal works well with the simple percussion and double-tracked acoustic guitar.
@bandybum Feb 2022
Lush, dreamy opening. The imagery of the lyric makes me smile, gorgeous vocals delivering and nice subtle touches of percussion gently keeping heads nodding and toes tapping.
Lovely stuff, guys :)

" zip up your outer shell" is a perfect metaphor to describe letting your guard down for a moment and then going back into the storm. Beautiful vocal and guitar work. I really enjoyed the simple arrangement. It makes the hopeful message feel more genuine.

Another wonderful acoustic song. What an awesome voice. So clear and true. I really like the light percussion. I also like that it makes you wait to get the real chorus. Double prechorus at least that’s how I perceived it. I guess maybe the arrival was the bridge. Anyway great singer songwriter vibes.
@emkaydeebee Feb 2022
This is brilliant! I’m sure it sounds a little funny to both of you with contrasting timing feelings, but the end result works brilliantly for new listeners! Very Suzanne Vega feel to this (Anchorage), which I love! Great collab!
@tippyteapot Feb 2022
This is a natural fit.
@srcoops Feb 2022
Nicely done. I really like the chorus.
@guitarpatz83 Feb 2022
Ooh lovely rainy day uplifting 90s vibe acoustic stuff here. Those acoustic guitars sound so rich and full, lovely chord choices, some very surprising! And a brilliant vocal performance. The chorus hook is great but my favourite lyrics is:
It could rain like this forever
But we’ve adapted well
Zip up your outer shell
And we’ll walk home together
Also really enjoy the ways this ends suddenly, feels very fitting, a decision to move forward and find the sun amidst the clouds.
@ductapeguy Feb 2022
This is fabulous. Great collab.
@gm7 Feb 2022
This a great collab . Great BT and those great vocals
Love this line
"Because the sun is out there somewhere
Someday soon it’s gonna shine.."
@tuneslayer Feb 2022
Nice vocals, nice lyrics, nice metaphors and production . . . nothing not to like about this collab.
@sueawesome Feb 2022
oh my gosh.. this is a collab made in heaven. I always love what ze comes up with, he is utter brilliance. I’m kind of blown away by this new-to-me fawm voice.
such a cool collab you two

I have a sticker on one of my ukes that says "No mistakes, only happy accidents" (I think that's a Bob Ross thing?). Anyway, embrace the happy accident! I like the sound of this.
