Feb 2022 fawmtronica collab 80s
kristian: So yeah.... I don´t have time for this :D But I missed my FAWMily so much I had to at least do ONE song.. might do a couple more :D Tossed Deena an idea and she worked her magic as always. It's late and I think the mix is probably a bit hot, but it just snowed over here, so .. EAT THIS SNOW
deena: I was SOOOOOO happy to hear from kristian that he couldn't keep away from fawm and wanted to collaborate and then he sent me this incredible music! It has traveled on it's own wandering star and back again with all the exciting sounds and depth he added. OMG I love you kristian... and now I will stop typing and listen again to your amazing sonic magic!
It’s not what you think
It’s not what you see
It’s all about what we do
Just say the word
And I’ll fly North
To the endlessness and you
Running fast and loose in the shadows
Heading down the road without a goal
Now I’m alone
Off on my own
On a Tuesday morning
You can be seen
Inside my dream
Is it a sign or a warning
Running fast and loose in the shadows
Heading down the road without a goal
We could be dancing
Right up to the brink
We could be traveling far
Dreaming and believing that’s what we are
Tangled together on a wandering star
Say what you think
Say what you feel
Just say the words, just say the words
Back to the start
To creation and the sound of birds
Running fast and loose in the shadows
Heading down the road without a goal
We could be dancing
Right up to the brink
We could be traveling far
Dreaming and believing that’s what we are
Tangled together on a wandering star

Living the vibes from this. As said below, it is reminiscent of an 80's pop tune but still feels fresh. Like, if I were to go roller skating, it would feel exactly right as a soundtrack. But I fear my skating skills have aged less well than this music will.
@sapient Feb 2022
Wowza! This is amazing! And I don't even like pop music!
What a performance against such a smooooth backing track.
Great work you two!
@deafsteever Feb 2022
What a great pop tune! Music, vocals, and lyrics are all top-notch. It has an 80s vibe, but I definitely don't think it sounds dated or anything. I honestly think it wouldn't sound out of place if I heard it on a top 40 radio station (do they still call them top 40 stations?? Lol!). In fact, to me, it would stand out amongst all the mostly generic-sounding songs on modern top 40 radio. Definitely. Anyway, very nicely done, you two! :-)

For me I'm getting major Robyn vibes from this one, love the vocals, love the production. It feels easy to throw the 80s around, but I think this feels a lot more modern and is definately not a nostalgia trip. The snare sounds great and the way the synths blend, meld and morph around each other is great.
Have to also give a big shout out to Deena as the delivery is lovely (maybe more Annie than Robyn if I think about it) and the words are great too - dreamy.
The start of this song is so perfect, that kind of happy/sad on the dancefloor thing. One of my faves this fawm, love it!

Ooh, a late arrival by Kristian. Excellent. And with Deena too. I'm going to add an exclamation mark: Excellent! This sounds great. Love the evolving arrangement - the little plucky synth thing on the 'say what you think' verse is brilliant. And Deena hopping casually between genres like it's no big deal. Lovely work, you two.
@tfish77 Feb 2022
We've missed you, buddy! Beautiful collab, that vocoder is killer over the synths.
@jamesstaubes Feb 2022
I love this 80's goodness. But it also has that modern sound too. Ugh, this is so good it makes me sick. (In a good way.) The vocoder is ace. This sounds like a real, finished song. The mix is big and wide. Well done both.
@mctown Feb 2022
Classic collab
@jaz Feb 2022
This is awesome.
It takes me to a place I think I’ve been but haven’t. ️
Great lyrics !
@tinear Feb 2022
ooo - you told me I was the only one and now I find out you've been entangled with Deena all the time!
Every year your collabs are always one of the big FAWM highlights and this doesn't disappoint. Lot's of lovely synthy goodness and Deena's fabulous vocals to top it off. This has real 80s power ballad appeal.
@bandybum Feb 2022
Ah wicked, just know this is going to be a great collab before it even plays.
Yeah, those subtle synths are lush and dreamy, the drums are bang on - and oh 80s heaven in the chorus
Love the ups and downs of the arrangement, especially the drops at 'on a wandering star'
Deena's vocals? Well, I shan't go on like a gushing school boy, so let's just say epic as usual.
Lovely stuff, guys!
have to go listen again now :)
@mariekevinkmusic Feb 2022
Yay, Kristian has arrived!
What's there to say, this track is amazing. Production, vocals, I live everything about it. The Vocoder is perfect.
@chroes Feb 2022
My gourd, this is amazing! The intro with the vocoder, the layered vocals, the synth arps... The nice pulsing bass, the drums, just on point! This is an amazing song, could totally see this on an album from Robyn or Ellie Goulding. The vocals are performed with such nonchalant confidence, the harmonies hold just the right amount of surprise. I could listen to this track again and again.
@looprication Feb 2022
Yay! Been haunting the feed to see if @kristian is going to join the madness this year, as usual, this is bar-settingly phenomenal. Hot mix + snow sounds like best of both worlds? @deena 's vocals are sample-worthy, and your skills continue to impress as you yourself continue to age like fine Aquavit (if that ages?). Great to hear things are going well and at least as great to see you back in the FAWMily!
@guitarpatz83 Feb 2022
Ah dude so glad you got one together this year! And Deena has smashed it here too. Love the way the electronic vocal and the real one intertwine and meld together. Some huge synths and drum parts here but super catchy all the way though. The drums are mixed loud but that works for this track.
The 80s vibe really comes out in the chorus, could go straight into the Stranger Things soundtrack and I’m all for it! Feels like a huge amount of work has gone into this, such a catchy hook. @deena’s voice is equal parts playful and earnest, such a great delivery - amazing work all round!
