Feb 2022 fawmtronica old-folkie-with-sampler maschine experimental
I spent half the afternoon watching videos of really talented hip-hop producers creating beautiful beats in Maschine in real time. In the process I also updated my sample libraries. I got a new library of West African instruments and loops I wanted to try out. This happened.
I'm primarily an acoustic folkie but I've been monkeying with a Native instruments Maschine Controller for about 4 months. I have been using Melodics to help me learn basic finger drumming skills (and assist me with trying to understand that thing that drummers do). I am just now at the stage where I can load samples, craft loops and assemble them into something resembling a song. I am going to try do a sample based something every day this FAWM. They are not polished productions but my path to adding these modern tools to my box of crayons. If anyone wishes to expand on these sketches, add lyrics, etc.., drop me a line and I can hook you up with Maschine files (and maybe midi if I learn how to export those).
Nope-- if you hear some let me know and we can collab.

Native Instruments stuff is great and used to good effect here.
Sounds exactly as the title suggest, African.

Those West African sounds are brilliant! And you've used them to great effect here. :-)

Man, you’re really having a prolific year! This sing puts me in a good mood, loving the sounds you’re coming up with!

This sounds like the real thing and the melody is pleasing. The beats are good not sure they go well together though liking end with marimba. Cool

Isn’t it fun to play with the different sounds? This is a nice melody,
