Feb 2022 collab rock lots-of-guitars
Chris says:
Alex and I had so much fun doing our collab "Masks" for FAWM last year that we decided that we ought to do another one. So I set the HFO studio to its "Little Old Band From Texas" setting, pressed the 'go' button, and sent the results off to Alex...
Alex says:
I really appreciated Chris being willing to work with me again -- and I had fun working out a structure for the lyrics and tune to what was very much a backing track which was so amazingly together it didn't need me! Thanks Chris!
what do I hope to find
as I peer deep inside
what do I hope to know
at the sun's fading glow
what do I hope to be
wondering what to see
what is concealed
will be revealed
let the wheels turn now
let the wheels turn now
spin the world round now
let the wheels turn now
what then could I expect
as I sit and reflect
on the words I have heard
meaningful yet absurd
what do I still demand
on this where do I stand?
what is concealed
will be revealed
let the wheels turn now
let the wheels turn now
spin the world round now
let the wheels turn now
incessant questions fade
now with the evening shade
as my eyes close for rest
and my hopes for the best
slip away into the night
pray for the morning light
what is concealed
will be revealed
let the wheels turn now
let the wheels turn now
spin the world round now
let the wheels turn now

ooh, easy going darkness in those harmonies in the chorus.
love the pulsating synth/bass - so 80s
I even feel a Van Halen solo wouldn't be out of place..
well done guys!
@heliosonorous Feb 2022

sounds like old testament grunge, Before Christ, After Nirvana "Wherever the spirit would go, they would go, and the wheels would rise along with them, because the spirit of the living creatures was in the wheels. When the creatures moved, they also moved; when the creatures stood still, they also stood still; and when the creatures rose from the ground, the wheels rose along with them, because the spirit of the living creatures was in the wheels." Ezekiel 1:20-21

Being a child of the Sixties, when I see the title "Wheels" I think of the Billy Vaughn instrumental from way back when. This, of course, is very different -- it sounds to me like more of an eighties vibe, but I'm not sure who it reminds me of. Simple Minds maybe? Anyway it sounds great You two should work together more :)
