I'm not sure if this is my last song for FAWM this year, but I'm also not sure what more I could say.
An evil wind blowing in the east
Northern truckers blocking the streets
They're stockpiling guns out in the west
And the south is doing what the south does best
They call it progress as things get worse
Driving faster and faster in reverse
There's always a reason
It's always someone else that gets hurt
I've been watching it happen for my whole life
As plain as day, as clear as black and white
Another killing, more excuses
Protest marches and police abuses
Another crackdown in the subways
A luxury tower and you know who pays
They call it progress as things get worse
Driving faster and faster in reverse
There's always a reason
There's always someone else to get hurt
I've been letting it happen for my whole life
Writing it down, in black and white
They call it progress as things get worse
Driving faster and faster in reverse
There's always a reason
There's always someone else we can hurt

Clever lyrics to this and I like the folky feel, mixed with the swirly drones. Cool song!

I'm a big fan of the folksy-yet-cyberpunk soundscape you've created. It's chrome and pipes, it's decay, but it's also all around us. The plaintive vocals sit very well on top, with the slightly robotic delivery adding a touch of dystopia to it. You catalogue tragedies in an almost resigned tone - the irony is lost on neither singer nor audience, who are marching together towards the good and the bad, the latter of which is not going away any time soon.
Great work.

Driving faster and faster in reverse is a line for the ages.
You taking some of those vsts and the idea of a topical lyric to a whole different place.
Really interesting, and that harmonica (again) is so melancholy on it's own, let alone the context.
Maybe instead of setting heads on fire when dylan went "electric" shock horror, he should have gone ficara! :)

"They call it progress. . . and faster in reverse." Such a poignant line! I really like the sad and sober melody of this, the knowing, the matter-of-factness of it all.

Loving the harmonica. Wow, do you open the song with a bang! These words in particular are so strong:
"They call it progress as things get worse
Driving faster and faster in reverse
There's always a reason
There's always someone else to get hurt". Well done! #Tit4tat

Very powerful lyric about our so-called Progress. I really like the droning synth tone, it supports the theme of the lyric very well.
Not too hopeful but very truthful.

#tit4tat time what a word progress . used to condone anything you want. well called out! it does have a bit of a folksy apocolyptic feel! great harmonica!

This song is like sitting around a lonely campfire at the end of the world, just listening to a good friend strum his guitar and sing about his trouble understanding how we've fallen this far. The harmonica is perfectly played and mixed, I don't think I've ever heard a harmonica part I liked more!
