Feb 2022 morph1 collab girl-with-piano
It's morphin' time (with a quick and dirty demo because I'm couldn't be arsed to plug in the interface and try to balance everything on the keyboard).
It was lovely to follow Liz and Nancy on this one! I switched it to a waltz, and took it to a darker place lyrically. Though I didn't use the chorus lyrics, at all, its chord progression became the verse progression, though slightly modified.

7. Up next - @chroes
look down, there he is
he's that kind of guy
that sees just one thing
when he catches your eye
just his own selfish needs
he just wants to screw
the girl in the cocktail dress
singing the blues
so pretend to be shy
disarm him with a wink
tell him you're easy
and you know what he'll think
you are his target
he'll be wanting you
the girl in the cocktail dress
singing the blues
soon no one else
will be threatened by him
the proverbial macho man
will be done in - thanks for the correction Nancy!
he's going to find out
what he never knew 'bout
the girl in the cocktail dress
singing the blues
Verse chords: Fm Ebm C#maj Cmaj (repeat)
Chorus chords: F Am Bb C (x2) / F Am Bb C - Bb C

Yeah, this comes back to my blues (!) look out for #1 dude of the second song in the chain, possibly wearing a shirt that proclaims he's #1 while he eyes up the "talent" at his favorite watering hole. I assume he's done for, but it's not clear and I don't mind not knowing. Alternatingly sweet, blunt, coy and ominous, this song flirts with death, literally! Musically intriguing too. Cool morph.
@bradbrubaker Feb 2022
I like the different flavors of piano playing in this tune. I also like how you redirected the morph to a subtle murder.
@mikegtz Feb 2022
I just think this is cool, clever and diabolical Huzzah!
@chroes Feb 2022
Revisiting your take again after I kept myself from listening to it for too often. It's a beautiful song, the chord progressions blew me away, and I love how you worked with the previous song of the chain and progressed the story!
@nadine Feb 2022
I can hear the key pressing so this is absolutely live. What a nice sultry ballad with a touch of Disney acting.
@sunnymae Feb 2022
I love how the cocktail dress made it thru a few of the morphs! You painted a great picture of her singing the blues. Love the minor key and your voice is so beautiful. I look forward to these every year. It's so much fun. Great take!
@chandra83 Feb 2022
Yasss! Get 'im girl!
Love this!!
@gardeningangel1 Feb 2022
The waltz with the sinister elements is a great parallel with the lyrics. I love the narrative twist, sly just like the character. Playful and dark, I really like this one.
@kahlo2013 Feb 2022
Ha! This is absolutely fantastic, Debs! Love your change up of your music and vocals between sections and the manipulative sinister intentions of that girl in the cocktail dress …. Wonderful morph! Glad this guy is going down!
@andygetch Feb 2022
Ah and the transformation is complete. Such a sneaky delivery too. I like it!
@ductapeguy Feb 2022
Whoa. That is dark... and so beautiful. I love the twist that the prey is really the predator. Well done.
@chroes Feb 2022
Oh wow. That's structurally intense! I'm on it, I just ... *scribbling sounds*
I really like the way you told the story. I'm curious how the story will change in my hands. It's a waltz, I didn't expect a waltz! But then, I never do. I've never done a waltz myself, so this'll be something I'll keep for sure! The harmonies are super challenging, need to find something equally as cool. Very well done, thank you for this!
@nancyrost Feb 2022
Never will win -> will be done in. Dark indeed! Love the progression, and your voice sounds beautiful and mischievous. So cool to watch this song morph.
