I have heard many songs with an ukulele during this FAWM. So i decided to try the ukulele and join the party. I got this for Christmas a few years back but I have never played it. I had to look up the tuning..lol. So here is first introduction to playing the ukulele...so goes the title "Hello Ukulele"

That is a fun little instrumental.
@wylddandelyon Mar 2022
This is fun. It made me smile.
@audrey Mar 2022
Oh, this is so sweet. What lovely gentle playing. It's soothing to to the soul. The ukulele never sounded so good. :)
@mikeskliar Mar 2022
great fun, and sounds like you've been playing for a long while!
@liz561 Mar 2022
I'm a uker so of course I had to listen to this one! Really great job especially on the picking.
@chipwithrow Mar 2022
Hey, that's some sweet picking! And some nifty flourishes apart from the chord structure. Hello, indeed!
@seanbrennan Mar 2022
Well, for an introduction, you've sure got the lay of the land! This captures the idiom very well, I think, with a gentle uniformity across the finger-picked voices.
@kenmattsson Mar 2022
Damn, how did I miss this?!?!?!? This is so amazingly good, and you don't play ukulele? **hangs head in shame and awe**
@carleybaer Mar 2022
This is sweet! I wouldn't have guessed it was your first uke song. You definitely capture its playful spirit! Do I hear a low G string on there as well? Good move :)
@jaegerin Mar 2022
This lovely to listen to! Other than that - I agree with what Stephen said below :-)
I purchased a uke a few weeks before FAWM this year but still have quite a way to go. Great to hear an example of the kind of thing to aspire to!
@stephenwordsmith Mar 2022
Would never have guessed this was your introduction. Just sitting here, enjoying the notes bubble and percolate. There's a kind of savouriness to the piece, like the feeling one gets watching rain pitter-patter on their windows while couched up in a snug, warm apartment with a mug of cocoa and a cat. There's a fluffy white rug, too. I hope to hear more of this from you.

As a fellow ukelelist, I was drawn to this tag, and as a fan of fun music, I very much enjoyed this. Upbeat and sprightly, this was a perfect listen sitting indoors on a cold, cloudy March morning to make me think of sunnier days!
@darcistrutt Mar 2022
Lovely! I'm a ukulele fan. Hope you are becoming one now too.
@roddy Mar 2022
Very good ukulele playing and music. Excellent for your first piece.
@seppo Mar 2022
Every time I try uke, my brain hurts.
I can't get even close to that in first year if I really try :)
You clearly have a gift of figuring out things.
@coolparadiso Feb 2022
Tit4tat Yup plenty of ukes this year! This is nicely played, some nice runs! Guitarists nearly always pick first!
@mandolinda Feb 2022
Such a happy tune for a snowy morning outside. Very nice tune improvisation, with the picking added. Great sound there. #tit4tat
@tseaver Feb 2022
Nice take! It is fun to turn to a new instrument for inspiration: you've obviously found it here. The chromatic bits are cool and slinky.
@katestantonsings Feb 2022
Piano, production, guitar, bass, uke--what don't you play, G?! One of my favorite songs is Israel Kamakawiwo'ole's cover of "Over the Rainbow" on ukulele. I think it's a happy and comforting instrument. Kudos for stretching your sea legs--it sounds great!
@nadine Feb 2022
Garry, you have to tag it with #fuc. Just because every 2nd FAWMer does (and I obviously don't). I'm not a great fan of ukes (cause I don't like happy music), but you managed to make it sound bluegrass. Your picking is insane.I cannot believe you picked up this instrument some months ago. But maybe it's because you're a good guitarist ;-)
@radiobenedetto Feb 2022
Way to go for it with a new instrument. I'm impressed you went for more than strumming . . . the finger style bits and runs are cool. I have a hard time re-orienting my brain to tuning . . . it's like playing a left-handed guitar when you're right handed with the higher strings at the top of the instrument. Well done!
@jerrypettit Feb 2022
Wait--this is an EARLY "attempt" at playing ukelele? Jeez, you are a fast learner.
I love the uke--just got back a couple of weeks ago from my first ever trip to Hawaii, where it is popular, of course.
Very, very nice job on this!
@nahlej381 Feb 2022
Of course grab a Uke for the first time and make magic! You jerk! How dare you!? Lol this was super chill, bright with a taste of bittersweet that appeals to me. You’re next level my friend.
@panch Feb 2022
Nice picking, a good start on the instrument.
I'm sure you know this but just in case - guitar chords work on the uke, open on the uke is the same as capo'd at the 5th fret on a guitar (e.g. a G shape is a C).
